SURE ODDS BANNER

Arsenal and Kai Havertz will have the opportunity to achieve impressive feats in Saturday’s Premier League home meeting with Southampton.

The Gunners will head into the game in a positive mood after recording a third consecutive victory in Tuesday’s Champions League clash with Paris Saint-Germain.

Havertz and Bukayo Saka both got on the scoresheet to secure a 2-0 home victory over the French champions.

As a result of his 20th-minute effort, Havertz has now scored five goals in nine competitive appearances this season.

Can Havertz replicate Van Persie feat?

Havertz has also scored in each of his last six home appearances in all competitions – a run which started with a goal against Everton in the final game of last season.

The Germany international has gone on to score in home games against Wolverhampton Wanderers, Brighton & Hove Albion, Bolton Wanderers, Leicester City and PSG.

The 25-year-old is now just one goal away from becoming the second Arsenal player to score in seven successive appearances at the Emirates Stadium.

As it stands, Robin van Persie is the only player who has achieved that feat after he scored in seven straight home games from December 2011 to March 2012.

Arsenal on the verge of emulating Man United feat

While Havertz is eyeing an individual feat, Arsenal have the opportunity to emulate their Premier League rivals Man United.

The Gunners recorded their 399th Premier League home win with a 4-2 victory in last Saturday’s clash with Leicester.

They now have the chance to join Man United by becoming the second team to clinch 400 home victories in the Premier League.

The Red Devils are currently in an exclusive club of one, having recorded 428 Premier League home wins at Old Trafford.

Arsenal boss Mikel Arteta hopes to have Takehiru Tomiyasu, Ben White, and Jurrien Timber available for Saturday’s meeting with Southampton, having admitted the trio are “close” to being ready for the fixture.
