Serie B promotion rivals Pisa and Cesena clash in the Coppa Italia on Wednesday, as they meet in a second-round tie at Arena Garibaldi.

Fighting it out for the right to tackle Atalanta BC in the last 16, the sides are separated by six points in the second-tier standings, following a fast start from the Nerazzurri.

We say: Pisa 3-1 Cesena

Pisa seem to be heading in the right direction under Pippo Inzaghi, and they are not only top of Serie B at the moment but are also the second tier’s leading goalscorers.

An inconsistent Cesena side will therefore exit the Coppa Italia and be left to focus on contending for the playoffs.

Having seen their unbeaten streak finally ended at the weekend, Udinese aim to get back on track in the Coppa Italia, as they host Salernitana on Wednesday.

The winner of the teams’ second-round tie will earn a place in the last 16, where a trip to meet Italian champions Inter Milan at San Siro awaits.

We say: Udinese 2-0 Salernitana

These sides played out two 1-1 draws in Serie A last season, but Udinese are set to come out on top in Wednesday’s cup clash, which will see Salernitana having to journey hundreds of miles north.

With momentum on their side and some promising squad players standing ready to be promoted, the Friulani should get the job done against opponents that do not travel well.

Two bitter foes clash in a special Coppa Italia edition of the Derby della Lanterna, as Genoa tackle city rivals Sampdoria on Wednesday.

While the Grifone have seamlessly adapted to life back in Serie A after switching places with Samp last season, their second-round opponents are currently struggling in Italy’s second division.

We say: Genoa 3-1 Sampdoria

Liguria will come to a standstill for 90 minutes on Wednesday evening, as the latest Derby della Lanterna plays out – but only Genoa fans will be celebrating at the final whistle.

The Grifone can afford to make changes and still overcome a Samp side lacking confidence and more concerned with resurrecting their ailing league campaign.
