SURE ODDS BANNER

After a chaotic summer of transfer activity, Chelsea can finally focus solely on matters on the field when they face Crystal Palace at Stamford Bridge on Sunday.

The Blues booked their place in the Conference League proper during the week despite defeat in Switzerland and will look to build on last week’s thrashing of Wolverhampton Wanderers.

We say: Chelsea 2-1 Crystal Palace

With so many players at his disposal, it appears Maresca has stumbled across his strongest XI quite early into his spell, and an attacking performance which resembles anything like what they produced at Wolves will surely seal another three points here.

Palace have shown plenty of promising signs despite opening with two defeats, but defensive departures and injuries have weakened them, and the goals just have not been as free-flowing as they were in the latter stages of last season so far.

Eddie Howe’s Newcastle United are set to host Tottenham Hotspur at St James’ Park on Sunday in each side’s third game of the 2024-25 Premier League season.

The home team are seventh in the table with four points from their opening two matches against Southampton and Bournemouth, while the visitors also have four points but are in fifth place due to superior goal difference.

We say: Newcastle United 2-3 Tottenham Hotspur

It would not be surprising if Sunday’s game is a high-scoring affair given the nature of recent encounters between the sides.

While Spurs have defensive issues to contend with, Newcastle’s backline has been decimated due to injury and suspension, and this could give the visitors the advantage this weekend.

Old Trafford is the place to be for this weekend’s Premier League blockbuster, as old foes Manchester United and Liverpool cross paths once again on Sunday afternoon.

The mouthwatering showdown also sees former Eredivisie managerial rivals Erik ten Hag and Arne Slot reunite for the second time, after the Merseyside giants stormed to a 3-0 pre-season victory.

We say: Manchester United 0-1 Liverpool

As well as racking up the highest number of expected goals so far this season, Liverpool’s expected goals against total of one is also the best record in the division, so an up-and-down Man United will surely have their work cut out to penetrate Slot’s defence.

The Reds’ 3-0 pre-season thumping should not be taken at face value, but even if their margin of victory is far less emphatic this time around, we still back the visitors to knock down a few more Old Trafford walls.
