Sports Mole provides score predictions and previews for all of today’s Championship fixtures, including Burnley vs. Blackburn.

Following a one-year absence due to their Premier League adventures, Burnley will take part in the East Lancashire derby on Saturday afternoon as Blackburn Rovers visit Turf Moor in the Championship.

The Clarets have endured a difficult seven days across all competitions as August nears its conclusion, whilst Rovers were also on the losing side during the week.

We say: Burnley 2-1 Blackburn Rovers

Burnley have enjoyed all of the bragging rights from this fixture over the past decade and will be confident of continuing their excellent record in the East Lancashire derby on Saturday.

Blackburn are still a major threat in attack despite the departure of Szmodics, but we feel that the visitors will narrowly lose out at Turf Moor this weekend.

Cardiff City play host to Middlesbrough on Saturday afternoon looking to earn their first win of the new Championship campaign.

At a time when the Bluebirds sit in bottom place of the standings, Middlesbrough are in 11th position despite only having one victory under their belt.

We say: Cardiff City 1-3 Middlesbrough

On the back of a morale-boosting showing against Southampton, Cardiff will be optimistic about overcoming Boro on Saturday. Nevertheless, we feel that the visitors will shake off their humbling in midweek and post a convincing victory.

Coventry City play host to Norwich City on Saturday afternoon looking to build on their recent unbeaten run in all competitions.

At a time when the Sky Blues sit in 10th position in the Championship standings, Norwich are down in 20th spot after successive draws.

We say: Coventry City 2-1 Norwich City

Robins will feel that he is starting to get the best out of his Coventry side at a time when the same cannot be said of his opposite number. With that in mind, we are backing the Sky Blues to come through this contest with another three points.

Aiming to continue their stellar start to the campaign at Pride Park, Derby County will welcome an unbeaten Bristol City side to the East Midlands for a Championship clash on Saturday afternoon.

The Rams will be looking to return to winning ways following cup disappointment on Tuesday night, whilst the Robins travel to Derby striving to maintain their invincible status in the second tier so far.

We say: Derby County 1-1 Bristol City

Derby have been impressive on home soil so far this season, but the Rams’ lack of attacking firepower makes it hard to envisage them blowing Bristol City away this weekend.

The Robins have looked very competitive in each of their contests to date, and we believe that the visitors have enough quality to force a share of the spoils at Pride Park.

Leeds United will bid to continue an unbeaten start to the Championship season and make it back-to-back victories on Saturday, when they welcome Yorkshire rivals Hull City to Elland Road.

The hosts put their first win of the campaign on the board last Friday, while their visitors have drawn each of their opening three league outings.

We say: Leeds United 2-0 Hull City

While Hull City have shown their defensive solidity so far this term, conceding just two goals in their first three league outings, they face their toughest test thus far on Saturday and may struggle to match a rejuvenated Leeds United side at Elland Road.

Millwall will continue their search for a first win of the Championship season on Saturday, when they welcome Sheffield Wednesday to the Den.

The hosts put their first point of the campaign on the board in a goalless draw last weekend, while their visitors have suffered back-to-back league draws after an opening-day win.

We say: Millwall 1-2 Sheffield Wednesday

While Sheffield Wednesday do head into the weekend on the back of consecutive league defeats, conceding six goals across those without scoring, they should eye up Saturday’s contest as a good opportunity to bounce back.

After falling short against particularly tough opposition and showing their quality in a thrashing of Plymouth Argyle, we back Rohl’s men to get the better of a Millwall side who are yet to kickstart their campaign.

Oxford United and Preston North End square off on Saturday afternoon looking to improve after a mixed start to the new Championship campaign.

Both clubs have accumulated three points from as many games to sit in 13th and 18th position in the standings respectively.

We say: Oxford United 1-1 Preston North End

Heckingbottom will be confident that his Preston side can build on what was a promising start against Luton last weekend. However, Oxford could prove tough to beat at the Kassam Stadium this season, leading us to predict a low-scoring draw.

Plymouth Argyle play host to Stoke City on Saturday afternoon still searching for their first win of the new Championship season.

At a time when the Pilgrims sit in 21st position in the standings, Stoke are only in 17th spot after back-to-back defeats.

We say: Plymouth Argyle 1-2 Stoke City

The Schumacher factor means that this should be a competitive game played in an electric atmosphere at Home Park. While it may benefit the hosts at times, we are backing the superior attacking quality of the visitors to ultimately shine through.

Sunderland will attempt to maintain their perfect start to the Championship season when they travel to the South Coast for Saturday’s meeting with Portsmouth.

Meanwhile, Pompey are still waiting to clinch their first win of the season, having drawn all three of their league matches.

We say: Portsmouth 1-2 Sunderland

Portsmouth may have avoided defeat in each of their opening three outings, but we think they will suffer their first Championship loss of the season against a Sunderland side that will be full of confidence following their perfect start to their league campaign.

West Bromwich Albion manager Carlos Corberan on September 30, 2023© Reuters

Looking to extend their unbeaten run at the start of the second-tier season to four matches, West Bromwich Albion will lock horns with Swansea City at The Hawthorns in the Championship on Saturday afternoon.

The Baggies come into this clash following a victory at the home of a Midlands rival last time out, whilst the Swans shared the spoils against Welsh counterparts on Sunday.

We say: West Bromwich Albion 1-0 Swansea City

West Brom managed to keep a dangerous Leeds United side quiet a fortnight ago at The Hawthorns, meaning that the Baggies will be confident of doing the same against Swansea this time around.

The visitors will be desperate to respond following a shock defeat to Wycombe on Wednesday, but we believe that the Welsh side are set to suffer another loss.
