Barcelona lineup vs. Rayo Vallecano: Predicted XI for La Liga contest

Sports Mole looks at how Barcelona could line up in Tuesday’s La Liga clash with Rayo Vallecano.

SURE ODDS BANNER

Barcelona head coach Hansi Flick has admitted that he ‘does not know’ whether new signing Dani Olmo will be registered in time for Tuesday’s La Liga clash against Rayo Vallecano.

Olmo has missed Barcelona’s opening two matches of the season against Valencia and Athletic Bilbao, which have both ended in 2-1 victories for the Catalan side, having not yet been registered with La Liga.

Flick is unsure whether the Spain international will be available against Rayo, but even if he is cleared to play, it is unlikely that the summer arrival from RB Leipzig will be introduced straight into the XI.

The bulk of the side that started Saturday’s 2-1 win over Athletic should keep their shirts, although there could be a change in an attacking area, with Fermin Lopez possibly replacing Ferran Torres.

Fermin is back in the fold after representing Spain at Euro 2024 and the Olympics over the summer, and he was used for the final 30 minutes of the clash with Athletic last time out.

Barcelona will again be missing five players through injury on Tuesday, with Frenkie de Jong, Gavi, Ronald Araujo, Andreas Christensen and Ansu Fati unavailable for selection.

Inigo Martinez is enjoying a run in the side in the early stages of the campaign, and the centre-back is again set to start for Flick’s team in their third game of the new league season.

Barcelona possible starting lineup: Ter Stegen; Kounde, Cubarsi, I Martinez, Balde; Bernal, Pedri; Yamal, F Lopez, Raphinha; Lewandowski
