Arsenal transfer news: Personal terms ‘verbally agreed’ for Ramsdale alternative

Aaron Ramsdale reportedly edges near an exit from Arsenal with the Gunners said to have agreed personal terms with a potential replacement.

SURE ODDS BANNER

Aaron Ramsdale has reportedly been handed a boost in his efforts to secure a transfer away from Arsenal.

Despite impressing during his opening two years at the Emirates Stadium, Ramsdale was ousted by David Raya last season soon after the Spaniard’s arrival.

As a result, it has been well documented that the England international is keen to secure regular football elsewhere, whether that be on a permanent or temporary basis.

From Arsenal’s perspective, however, they are in no particular rush to part ways with the Three Lions stopper, aware that they could benefit from retaining his services in the short term.

Should no suitable offer arrive for the 26-year-old, he seems destined to remain on the Arsenal substitutes’ bench for the foreseeable future.

However, on Monday night, a report emerged that Wolverhampton Wanderers had submitted a lucrative loan proposal to the North Londoners for Ramsdale.

Arsenal to react to Ramsdale development?

As it stands, it is unclear whether Arsenal plan to accept the offer from Wolves or attempt to haggle a bigger loan fee or move a potential option to buy more in their favour.

Nevertheless, according to transfer expert Fabrizio Romano, Mikel Arteta and club officials are pressing ahead in their effort to secure their preferred alternative.

Arsenal are said to have already agreed personal terms with Espanyol goalkeeper Joan Garcia, who has been linked with last season’s Premier League runners-up for a number of weeks.

Romano adds that Arsenal will not make a formal offer to his Spanish club unless they are prepared to accept Wolves’ offer for Ramsdale.

Would Garcia be a suitable replacement?

At 23 years of age, Garcia is far from his peak as a goalkeeper, yet the potential seen in him is demonstrated by his contract running until 2028.

The downside is that he has made just 30 senior appearances, almost half of which have been made in the second tier of Spanish football.

Nevertheless, Garcia is the current Espanyol number one and started the 1-0 defeat to Real Valladolid in La Liga on Monday evening.

Garcia, a former Spain Under-21 international, will now wait to see what occurs with the Ramsdale saga, naturally already contemplating whether he will be soon on Arsenal’s substitutes’ bench for Saturday’s encounter at Aston Villa.
