Bundesliga side Werder Bremen travel to LEAG Energie Stadion on Monday, where they will face 3. Liga team Energie Cottbus in the first round of the DFB-Pokal.

The home side are currently 17th in the third tier with no points after two games, while the visitors will face Augsburg on August 24 in their opening game of the 2024-25 top-flight season.

We say: Energie Cottbus 2-3 Werder Bremen

Although Energie Cottbus demonstrated their attacking prowess last time out, they also showed their defensive frailty.

It would not be surprising if Werder Bremen, despite conceding chances themselves, were to win on Monday and score multiple goals in the process.

Lower league side Koblenz are set to take on Bundesliga team Wolfsburg at the Stadion Oberwerth on Monday in the first round of the 2024-25 DFB Pokal.

The hosts are already two games into their 2024-25 campaign, winning one and losing one in the Oberliga Rheinland-Pfalz/Saar, the fifth tier of German football, while this matchup will be the first of the season for the visitors.

We say: Koblenz 1-3 Wolfsburg

The hosts may have the advantage of their competitive season already being underway, but the visitors play their football at a much higher level and should comfortably win this one.

Hosts Eintracht Braunschweig will be hoping to cause an upset on Monday, when they face Bundesliga side Eintracht Frankfurt at Eintracht-Stadion in the first round of the DFB-Pokal.

The home side have no points after two league matches in 2024-25 and are currently last in 18th place in Germany’s second tier, while the visitors will face Borussia Dortmund on August 24 in their Bundesliga opener.

We say: Eintracht Braunschweig 0-3 Eintracht Frankfurt

Given the hosts’ poor start to the league season, it is difficult to see them posing much of a threat on Monday.

Eintracht Frankfurt could take a first half lead, and if Eintracht Braunschweig open up too early in response, they might struggle to deal with the visitors during counter-attacks.
