Five players who could leave Man United before transfer deadline

Sports Mole looks at five players who could leave Manchester United before this summer’s transfer window closes for business.

SURE ODDS BANNER

Manchester United are expected to sign at least one more player before this summer’s transfer window closes for business, with a new midfielder wanted.

Paris Saint-Germain‘s Manuel Ugarte is the club’s leading target, and it would not be a surprise to see the Uruguay international soon become Man United’s fifth signing of the market after Joshua Zirkzee, Leny Yoro, Matthijs de Ligt and Noussair Mazraoui.

However, there will also be departures, with the club under pressure to make some sales in the final stages of the market for financial reasons.

With that in mind, Sports Mole looks at five players who could leave Old Trafford over the next couple of weeks.

Jadon Sancho | 24 years old | Forward

Sancho was not in the squad for Man United’s 2024-25 Premier League opener against Fulham, with head coach Erik ten Hag revealing after the match that it was a tactical decision not to select the Englishman.

The 24-year-old patched-up his relationship with Ten Hag earlier this summer, and he was involved off the bench in the Community Shield last weekend.

There remains widespread speculation surrounding Sancho’s future, though, and he could leave before the transfer window closes.

PSG have been linked with the ex-Manchester City youngster, while it is understood that Chelsea are also showing an interest, with a departure in the latter stages of the market suiting all parties.

Eriksen has entered the final year of his contract at Old Trafford, and it is understood that a number of clubs have approached Man United to discuss a move for the Denmark international before the end of the transfer window.

The 32-year-old has been an unused substitute for Man United’s two games this season, and he is down the pecking order when it comes to the midfield spots.

Eriksen was excellent for the Red Devils during the 2022-23 season after arriving on a free transfer from Brentford, but he found it difficult last term, and he needs to leave to secure regular action at this stage of his career.

Man United need to move a first-team defender on before the transfer window closes, and Lindelof is being strongly linked with an exit.

Fiorentina are the latest club said to be interested in the 30-year-old, who will struggle for action in 2024-25 if he remains at Old Trafford.

Lindelof has made 259 appearances for Man United in all competitions, but it would be fair to say that he has largely struggled to impress, and he needs to leave for the sake of his career.

There is also thought to be interest from Turkey, but a move could be complicated by the fact that the defender is currently on the sidelines with an unknown injury.

Pellistri was used off the bench in the Community Shield last weekend, surprisingly operating at right-back in the second half of the contest.

The Uruguay international is back at Old Trafford after spending the second half of last season on loan at Granada, but he is believed to be surplus to requirements.

Greek giants Panathinaikos are believed to be in talks with Man United over a move for the 22-year-old, who has made 25 first-team appearances for his current side.

Pellistri has struggled to fulfil his potential since arriving from Penarol, and he will have to leave in the final stages of the transfer window in order to secure regular action during the 2024-25 campaign.

Hannibal spent the second half of last season on loan at Sevilla, but the Spanish outfit turned down the chance to sign him on a permanent basis.

The midfielder was involved in Man United’s preparations for the new campaign, but he was not in the squad for either the Community Shield or Premier League opener against Fulham.

The 21-year-old has entered the final 12 months of his contract, and it is believed that both Celtic and Rangers are interested in his signature.

Hannibal has made 13 first-team appearances for the 20-time English champions, scoring one goal, and he is another expected to leave Ten Hag’s side before the transfer deadline.
