Mohamed Salah, Kevin De Bruyne to move to Saudi Pro League this summer?

The Saudi Pro League is reportedly preparing to bid for Manchester City’s Kevin De Bruyne and Liverpool’s Mohamed Salah later in the summer transfer window.

SURE ODDS BANNER

The Saudi Pro League is reportedly prepared to bid for Manchester City‘s Kevin De Bruyne and Liverpool‘s Mohamed Salah if the opportunity arises this summer.

After spending a combined total of £700m on incomings during the summer window of 2023, clubs from the Middle Eastern country have enjoyed a quieter period this time around.

The only major signing for the Saudi Pro League from the Premier League has arrived in the form of Moussa Diaby, who made the £50m switch from Aston Villa.

Last summer, N’Golo Kante and Edouard Mendy moved to Saudi Arabia from Chelsea, whilst Fabinho and Jordan Henderson departed from Liverpool to join the emerging division.

Despite Al-Ittihad securing the services of Karim Benzema last summer, it was Al-Hilal who romped to the Pro League title last season, finishing 14 points above second-placed Al-Nassr.

Salah, De Bruyne set for Pro League moves?

According to The Sun, the Saudi Pro League is not done with high-profile signings despite a relatively uneventful summer window up to this point.

The report claims that offers could still be made for two of the Premier League’s shining lights: Manchester City’s De Bruyne and Salah of Liverpool.

It is understood that the Saudi Pro League is willing to be patient as they look to lure more of European football’s biggest names to the Middle East.

There are suggestions that Salah and De Bruyne could leave Liverpool and Man City respectively at their conclusion of their current contracts.

It is believed that Pro League clubs signing world-class players could be essential as the division looks to secure lucrative TV rights and agreements.

Salah, De Bruyne would be major misses for the Premier League

Whilst the rivalry between Pep Guardiola and Jurgen Klopp arguably defines the Premier League in recent times, Salah and De Bruyne have been the standout players from that era.

Egyptian king Salah has spent seven years at Anfield since joining from Roma in 2017, scoring an eye-watering total of 211 goals in 349 appearances.

De Bruyne’s game is more focused on assists, with the Belgian assuming the role as chief creator for the Citizens over the past nine years.

Since making the high-profile switch from Bundesliga outfit Wolfsburg, the midfielder has won six Premier League titles and one Champions League under the tutelage of Guardiola.
