Chelsea transfer news: Blues ‘to consider’ selling academy graduate amid Real talk

Chelsea may reportedly consider selling an academy graduate who allegedly has admirers in Real Madrid and Paris Saint-Germain.

SURE ODDS BANNER

Chelsea are reportedly open to cashing in on one of their most recent academy graduates amid interest from Real Madrid and Paris Saint-Germain.

As has become the norm under Todd Boehly and Clearlake Capital, Chelsea have endured somewhat of a chaotic summer in the transfer market.

A total of nine players have been signed, some of whom will not arrive until 2025, while even more have departed Stamford Bridge on either a permanent or temporary basis.

The £54m acquisition of Wolverhampton Wanderers winger Pedro Neto is expected to be finalised in due course, the onus then likely to turn to facilitating as many sales as possible.

Conor Gallagher is on the brink of signing for Atletico Madrid, while Boehly and Clearlake are also eager to cash in on fellow academy graduates Trevoh Chalobah and Armando Broja.

Given a trend that also includes the sale of Michael Golding to Leicester City, it realistically remains a possibility that other homegrown talent could also go out the exit door.

Chelsea would consider Acheampong sale

According to The Independent, Chelsea officials would not necessarily reject the chance to sell highly-rated Josh Acheampong.

At the back end of last season, the 18-year-old was provided with his senior debut by Mauricio Pochettino, being introduced for the final five minutes and added-on time against Tottenham Hotspur.

Acheampong did not look out of place as Chelsea saw out a crucial 2-0 victory in the race for European qualification, and he subsequently earned a spot on the pre-season tour of the United States under Enzo Maresca.

Despite playing the second half of the 2-2 draw with Wrexham, Acheampong did not feature in the following four friendlies, casting doubt over where he will play his football during 2023-24.

With two years remaining on his contract, the Chelsea powers-that-be must decide how to handle that situation, aware that offers may soon arrive for his signature.

The report suggests that Real Madrid and Paris Saint-Germain are each admirers of Acheampong and may be prepared to make an approach.

A transfer fee of €15m (£12.84m) is mentioned, a figure that is sure to tempt Chelsea into a sale should such an offer arrive.

Real will eventually require successors at right-back to Dani Carvajal and Lucas Vazquez, while PSG may be sensing an opportunity to get value for money by signing the England Under-18 international.
