Barcelona ‘view’ £43m-rated forward as alternative to Nico Williams

Barcelona allegedly make contact with Kingsley Coman’s representatives to discuss the possibility of loaning the Bayern Munich attacker this summer.

SURE ODDS BANNER

Barcelona have reportedly been in contact with Kingsley Coman‘s representatives to discuss the possibility of the Bayern Munich attacker moving to Camp Nou on loan this summer.

Bayern are believed to be willing to allow Coman to leave on loan for the 2024-25 campaign, and a number of major clubs are said to be keeping a close eye on the situation.

According to German journalist Florian Plettenberg, Barcelona have been in touch with the France international’s representatives to register their interest, with Coman viewed as a potential alternative to Athletic Bilbao‘s Nico Williams.

Barcelona have allegedly not yet given up on a move for Williams, but Coman is seen as an alternative, with the Catalan outfit’s interest potentially becoming more concrete in the latter stages of the transfer window.

Coman has also previously been linked with a move to the Premier League, although it is unclear whether any of the leading English clubs are planning an approach.

Barcelona ‘make contact’ over possible Coman loan deal

The 28-year-old came through the youth system at Paris Saint-Germain before making his first-team debut for the French giants during the 2013-14 campaign.

Coman only made four first-team appearances for PSG, though, before heading to Juventus, making 15 league appearances for the Italian side ahead of a move to Bayern, initially on loan.

The forward has made 294 appearances for Bayern in all competitions, scoring 63 goals and registering 66 assists in the process.

Coman, who is valued at €50m (£43m) by transfermarkt, has won league titles in France, Italy and Germany, while he was a part of the France squad that finished second at the 2022 World Cup.

Last season, the attacker made 27 appearances for Bayern, scoring five goals and registering three assists in the process.

Will Barcelona sign Williams this summer?

Coman is said to be viewed by Barcelona as an alternative to Williams, should the club be unsuccessful in their attempts to sign the Spain international.

Earlier this summer, it appeared almost certain that the forward would be heading to Camp Nou, but Athletic have seemingly done enough to convince him to stay for at least another 12 months.

The situation is not closed, though, with Barcelona allegedly refusing to give up on the 22-year-old, who has a €55m (£47m) release clause in his current deal.

If it becomes clear that it is a definite no from Williams to Hansi Flick‘s side, then it would not be a surprise to see the La Liga team step up their interest in Coman.

The forward’s injury issues makes a permanent move risky, but it would certainly be a very attractive loan deal for the Catalan outfit.
