Arsenal transfer news: Ramsdale part-exchange deal ’emerges’ as possibility

Arsenal may plausibly be presented with the possibility to negotiate a part-exchange deal for goalkeeper Aaron Ramsdale before the end of the summer transfer window.

SURE ODDS BANNER

Arsenal goalkeeper Aaron Ramsdale has seemingly been provided with a boost in his efforts to leave the Emirates Stadium.

The England international had impressed in the number-one role during his first two campaigns under Mikel Arteta, something which seemed likely to continue in 2023-24.

However, Ramsdale was removed from his position after the September international break and replaced by David Raya, who subsequently remained between the sticks for all but a few matches.

As a result, it is an open secret that the 26-year-old is open to departing the North Londoners in search of regular first-team football, whether that be on a permanent or temporary basis.

Arteta is currently against allowing Ramsdale to leave the club with no suitable offers having been presented with less than a month of the summer transfer window remaining.

Part-exchange to be put on table?

While no notable proposals have been offered to Arsenal, talkSPORT claims that Wolverhampton Wanderers are among the clubs that hold a level of interest in Ramsdale.

That could prove to be significant due to Arsenal’s desire to secure a deal for Wolves deputy stopper Daniel Bentley, a consequence of having represented the club as a youth player.

Bentley is not viewed as a straight alternative to Ramsdale with the 31-year-old only in line to become third choice at Arsenal should they finally make the breakthrough in negotiations with their Wolves counterparts.

Nevertheless, the process could be made far easier if Wolves are able to propose acceptable terms for Ramsdale, who would then need to decide whether he would like to move to Molineux.

What is the situation with Wolves goalkeeper Sa?

As it stands, Jose Sa appears in line to start the season as number one at Wolves despite suggestions that there is interest in his signature.

The Portugal international is seemingly happy with life in the West Midlands, yet there is said to be a lingering interest from the Middle East.

Wolves are not in the position where they need to seriously consider offers courtesy of Sa possessing a contract until 2027.

Should a Saudi Pro League present a bid that is deemed too good to turn down, though, it may start kick-start discussions over Ramsdale and Bentley.
