Bournemouth reward attacker with new long-term contract

Bournemouth attacker Antoine Semenyo signs a new long-term contract just days after Lewis Cook extends his stay with the South Coast club.

SURE ODDS BANNER

Bournemouth winger Antoine Semenyo has signed a new long-term contract with the South Coast club.

Last week, Bournemouth announced that midfielder Lewis Cook had penned a four-year deal to keep him at the club until the summer of 2028.

The Cherries have now revealed they have secured the long-term future of another important member of Andoni Iraola‘s squad.

Bournemouth have confirmed that Semenyo has put pen to paper on a new five-year contract to extend his stay until the summer of 2029.

Semenyo commits long-term future to Bournemouth

Bournemouth chief executive Neill Blake told the club’s official website: “It has been clear for all to see the rate of Antoine’s development since joining 18 months ago. He has gone from strength to strength, and enjoyed an incredible first full season with us.

“Agreeing on a new long-term contract was important for us to recognise his contribution as a key member of our squad, and we’re excited to see this continue for years to come.”

Semenyo played a crucial role in Bournemouth’s successful 2023-24 campaign, scoring eight goals and providing two assists in 33 top-flight appearances.

The winger helped Iraola’s side collect 48 points from 38 matches to finish in 12th place and set a new club record for the most points in a single Premier League season.

Semenyo’s journey to Premier League talent

The 24-year-old began his career with Bristol City, who sent him out on loan to gain experience with Bath City, Newport County and Sunderland.

Semenyo went on to establish himself as a regular fixture of the Bristol City side, registering 21 goals and 22 assists in 125 competitive appearances.

After being left impressed by his performances at Ashton Gate, Bournemouth agreed a deal with Bristol City to sign Semenyo for around £10m in January 2023.

Having established himself as a regular starter, Semenyo is one of several impressive wide options that Iraola has at his disposal.

The Bournemouth boss can also call upon Luis Sinisterra, Justin Kluivert, Marcus Tavernier, Romain Faivre and Dango Ouattara.

They also have David Brooks and Jaidon Anthony, but it remains to be seen whether the pair will remain with the club for the 2024-25 season.
