Man United transfer news: Scott McTominay ‘wanted’ by four Premier League clubs

Manchester United midfielder Scott McTominay is reportedly attracting interest from Premier League clubs, with the Scotland international’s future at Old Trafford unclear.

SURE ODDS BANNER

Manchester United‘s Scott McTominay has reportedly attracted interest from four Premier League clubs ahead of the new season.

The 27-year-old was a shining light at points during the Red Devils’ troubling top-flight campaign of 2023-24, in which Erik ten Hag‘s troops finished eighth.

McTominay bagged 10 goals across all competitions last season – seven of those arriving in the Premier League – with only £72m signing Rasmus Hojlund and Bruno Fernandes netting on more occasions than the academy graduate.

The midfielder has shown a different side to his game on the international stage over the past year for Scotland, scoring seven goals in eight Euro 2024 qualifying matches as the Tartan Army secured a spot at the major tournament in Germany.

After being the only Scottish player to find the net at Euro 2024, McTominay and Steve Clarke‘s side exited the competition at the group stage, collecting just a single point from three games.

According to Manchester World, Scottish hero McTominay could be playing away from Man United for the first time in his senior career during the 2024-25 season.

The report claims that both Fulham and Newcastle United are keen on the 27-year-old, whose contract at Old Trafford expires during the summer of 2025.

It is understood that Fulham boss Marco Silva is a huge admirer of McTominay and would like to partner him with former Red Devil Andreas Pereira in the midfield at Craven Cottage.

A bid from the Cottagers is expected at some point during the summer window, whilst Eddie Howe‘s Newcastle are also keen on the 52-time international.

With a year remaining on his contract, Man United could cash in on McTominay, however it has been suggested that the Red Devils are set to extend his terms by a further 12 months.

As well as Fulham and Newcastle, it is believed that newly-promoted Southampton and West Ham have also registered their interest in McTominay this summer.

The Saints have already recruited a pair of top-flight veterans in this window, signing Adam Lallana and Charlie Taylor on free transfers from Brighton & Hove Albion and Burnley respectively.

Whilst the recent arrival of centre-back Ronnie Edwards falls at the other end of the experience scale, the capture of McTominay for Southampton would land in an exciting middle ground.

The 27-year-old is arguably in the prime of his career with over 250 competitive matches for Man United already under his belt, alongside being a key part of his national side.
