Wolves transfer news: ‘Interest’ in Premier League title-winning goalkeeper

Wolverhampton Wanderers allegedly hold an interest in securing the signature of a Premier League title-winning goalkeeper.

SURE ODDS BANNER

Wolverhampton Wanderers are reportedly showing an interest in signing a goalkeeper who has previously won the Premier League title.

If reports are to be believed, the West Midlands outfit will officially add Pedro Lima and Jorgen Strand Larsen to their ranks at some point on Tuesday.

The duo will join Rodrigo Gomes in making the switch to Molineux with head coach Gary O’Neil and sporting director Matt Hobbs aiming to be proactive in the transfer market.

Central areas are expected to next be on the agenda with Wolves particularly needing to decide on their desired options for the middle of their backline.

However, it appears that there is uncertainly over who could hold the senior role between the sticks for the start of the 2024-25 campaign.

Wolves considering Schmeichel bid

Jose Sa is currently the undisputed first-choice goalkeeper at Wolves and the Portugal international holds a contract until 2027.

Nevertheless, there has been talk of interest from Saudi Arabia, it yet to be seen whether a concrete bid will be put Wolves’ way, but O’Neil and Hobbs seemingly have an alternative on their radar.

According to Football Transfers, Wolves have expressed an interest in signing Kasper Schmeichel on a free transfer.

The 37-year-old has just represented Denmark at Euro 2024, making four starts in his nation’s run to the last 16 before they were eliminated by Germany.

Despite now reaching 105 caps for his country, Schmeichel is currently a free agent having left Belgian side Anderlecht at the end of his contract.

A total of 78 appearances have been made for Nice and Anderlecht since his legendary stint with Leicester City came to an end in 2022.

Schmeichel wants Premier League return

Schmeichel is said to be keen to return to English football having turned down the opportunity to make the switch to Saudi Arabia.

Eleven years were spent in the colours of the Foxes, Schmeichel making 479 appearances in all competitions, as well as lifting a Premier League title and FA Cup trophy.

Since 2009-10, Schmeichel has been first choice at whichever club he has been with, throwing up the question of whether he would move to Wolves if regular football was not guaranteed.

Daniel Bentley is currently understudy to Sa and has accepted his backup role in O’Neil’s squad.
