Chelsea, Arsenal ‘inform’ Man United of Jadon Sancho transfer decision

SURE ODDS BANNER

Chelsea and Arsenal have reportedly made a decision over whether to pursue a move for Jadon Sancho, who has been offered to both clubs by Manchester United.

Sancho spent the second half of last season on loan at Borussia Dortmund, chipping in with three goals and three assists in 21 games, but the winger is due to return to Old Trafford for the start of pre-season training.

The 24-year-old’s future at Man United remains uncertain, though, after his high-profile fallout with manager Erik ten Hag during the first half of the 2023-24 campaign.

Ten Hag’s future in charge of the Red Devils was questioned at the backend of last season, but the Dutchman is now expected to sign a contract extension following a positive round of talks with minority shareholder Sir Jim Ratcliffe.

As a result, it seems increasingly unlikely that Sancho will remain a Man United player for the 2024-25 season and he has been tipped to leave the club either on loan or permanently.

Chelsea, Arsenal reject chance to sign Sancho

A recent report claims that Man United’s new technical director Jason Wilcox believes Sancho should be given another chance to prove himself at Old Trafford.

However, the Red Devils have signalled their intent to move Sancho on this summer and Ratcliffe is said to have ‘invited’ Premier League trio Manchester City, Arsenal and Chelsea to make a move for the winger.

According to TEAMtalk, Man United’s efforts to offload Sancho have reportedly taken a blow as Chelsea have opted out of signing the Englishman.

The Red Devils are said to be so desperate to part ways with Sancho that they have dropped their asking price for the winger to £40m, but Chelsea have rejected their approach as they are already well stocked in the wide forward department with the likes of Raheem Sterling, Mykhaylo Mudryk, Noni Madueke and versatile star Cole Palmer.

Meanwhile, a separate report from the Evening Standard claims that Arsenal have also rejected the chance to sign Sancho, partly due to his high wages, estimated to be in the region of £250,000-a-week.

The Gunners are looking to bolster their attacking options this summer, but they are believed to be prioritising the addition of a new centre-forward rather than recruit a new winger at present.

Who else could sign Sancho this summer?

Sancho has also been offered a sensational return to Man City, where he spent time in their academy, but the prospect of linking up with Pep Guardiola seems highly unlikely at this stage.

Dortmund are said to be interested in re-signing Sancho, but they are not prepared to meet Man United’s current asking price, while Barcelona have also been credited with an interest, although their financial issues could prove to be problematic in negotiations.

Meanwhile, recent reports have suggested that Juventus are leading the race for Sancho’s signature, but it remains to be seen whether they have the funds available to fork out another big-money fee having already signed Douglas Luiz for a reported £42.4m from Aston Villa.
