PSG set Xavi Simons asking price amid Bayern Munich, Man United, Arsenal interest?

Bayern Munich reportedly discover the asking price of an in-demand Paris Saint-Germain attacker, who is also wanted by Manchester United and Arsenal.

SURE ODDS BANNER

Bayern Munich, Manchester United and Arsenal have discovered the asking price of Paris Saint-Germain attacker Xavi Simons, according to a report.

Simons has established himself as one of the most sought-after attackers this summer following a successful 2023-24 season on loan at RB Leipzig that came after a productive year at PSV Eindhoven.

The Dutchman recorded 22 goals and 12 assists in 48 appearances in the 2022-23 season at PSV Eindhoven, which prompted PSG to trigger the £5.1m buy-back clause in his contract last summer.

Simons was immediately loaned out to Leipzig, though, and excelled for the German club last season, scoring 10 goals and registering 15 assists in 43 games across all competitions.

After representing the Netherlands at Euro 2024, Simons is set to return to PSG, where he is under contract until June 2027, but it remains to be seen whether Luis Enrique wishes to integrate the 21-year-old into his first-team squad next season.

Rising star Simons in demand

Amid uncertainty over Simons’s future, a host of top European clubs have been credited with an interest in the attacker, including Premier League duo Man United and Arsenal.

A recent report claims that the Red Devils are ready to reignite their interest in Simons, who has been identified as a potential successor to Marcus Rashford.

Arsenal, meanwhile, are said to have sent scouts to watch Simons as Mikel Arteta considers reinforcing his frontline ahead of the 2024-25 season.

Both English giants are set to face stern competition from Bayern Munich, with Bild reporting that the Bundesliga outfit regard Simons as a ‘big transfer target’ this summer.

Bayern must pay premium to sign Simons

Bayern director Max Eberl signed Simons during his time at Leipzig last season and he is believed to be pushing for his new club to win the race for the Dutchman’s signature this summer.

However, Bild states that Bayern must pay around €100m (£84.4m) to prise Simons away from PSG, just a year on from forking out a similar fee for star striker Harry Kane.

It is understood that PSG’s valuation of Simons takes into account the fact that PSV Eindhoven are entitled to some of the funds earned from any potential move up until the summer of 2025.

Bayern, who have already completed the €30m signing of Stuttgart defender Hiroki Ito, are set for a busy summer transfer window under new boss Vincent Kompany, with the likes of Fulham’s Joao Palhinha, Juventus’ Federico Chiesa, Stuttgart’s Chris Fuhrich and Crystal Palace’s Michael Olise all said to be among their targets.
