Nottingham Forest transfer news: German prospect ‘closing’ on City Ground move

Nottingham Forest are reportedly closing in on the signing of a German teenager who plies his trade for a newly-promoted Bundesliga club.

SURE ODDS BANNER

Nottingham Forest are reportedly closing in on the signing of a youngster who is represented by Jorge Mendes.

The East Midlands outfit have made use of players represented by the super-agent in the past, as was the case with Wolverhampton Wanderers.

Forest boss Nuno Espirito Santo – a former head coach at Molineux – is with Mendes’s Gestifute, and a player from the stable moved to the City Ground in January.

Giovanni Reyna arrived on loan from Borussia Dortmund in a deal that was supposed to help all parties, yet the United States international remained a bit-part player during the second half of the campaign.

Despite that short-term transfer ultimately failing to pay off, it appears that it will not stop Forest, Nuno and Mendes from working in tandem yet again.

Moreira on brink of Forest transfer

According to transfer expert Fabrizio Romano, Forest are close to announcing that they have signed St Pauli youngster Eric da Silva Moreira.

Romano says that Forest are prepared to hand the 18-year-old a contract that will run until the end of the 2027-28 campaign.

As per Sky Sport Deutschland reporter Florian Plettenberg, Moreira is eager to complete the move to the Premier League side in due course.

Forest are ready to pay €1.5m (£1.27m) for Moreira, with there being potential for several add-ons to be activated at a later date.

Who is Eric da Silva Moreira?

As a Germany Under-18 international, Forest supporters can be left satisfied that they are getting a notable starlet through the door.

For St Pauli’s Under-17 and Under-19 teams, versatile attacker Moreira has contributed 17 goals and nine assists from 39 appearances.

Nevertheless, fans may need to be patient with regards to seeing him in the first team. Moreira’s only such experience at St Pauli is one brief substitute appearance in March.

St Pauli have since secured promotion to the Bundesliga, yet his prospects of breaking into the senior setup in the near future may have been hampered by head coach Fabian Hurzeler making the switch to Brighton & Hove Albion.
