How Poland could line up against Austria

Sports Mole takes an in-depth look at how Poland could line up for Friday’s Euro 2024 clash with Austria.

SURE ODDS BANNER

Poland head coach Michal Probierz must decide whether Robert Lewandowski is fit enough to participate in Friday’s Euro 2024 fixture against Austria.

During the warm-up matches, the nation’s all-time leading goalscorer sustained what was described as a minor groin issue, albeit one severe enough to keep him sidelined for the game with Netherlands on Sunday.

With Adam Buksa having made an impact in his absence, it is plausible that Lewandowski could be kept in reserve and introduced in the second half.

A change is perhaps more likely in order to get Karol Swiderski back into the attack, the Charlotte FC player having recovered from his own fitness problem to make an appearance in the second half against Oranje.

Kacper Urbanski could be the player to drop out in that instance, and it may prove to be the only alteration made by Probierz.

That said, he was not shy in making changes within the first hour last time out, Jakub Moder and Bartosz Slisz also being introduced as well as Swiderski.

Either player could be brought into a three-player midfield with Taras Romanczuk and Sebastian Szymanski seemingly most at risk.

If any alterations are made to the back three, Pawel Dawidowicz is most likely to earn a recall.

Poland possible starting lineup:
Szczesny; Bednarek, Salamon, Kiwior; Frankowski, Szymanski, Romanczuk, Zielinski, Zalewski; Swiderski, Buksa
