Wednesday’s Brasileiro predictions including Botafogo vs. Athletico Paranaense

Sports Mole provides score predictions and previews for all of today’s Brasileiro fixtures, including Botafogo vs. Athletico Paranaense.

Table-topping Botafogo could be leapfrogged by Athletico Paranaense in the Brasileiro standings in Wednesday’s round 10 fixture at Estadio Olimpico Nilton Santos.

While two points separate the hosts and their opponents, the former head into this week’s encounter in superior form, possibly giving them the edge.

We say: Botafogo 1-1 Athletico Paranaense

Recent encounters between these clubs in all competitions have gone Athletico Paranaense’s way, with Botafogo claiming one win in the Copa do Brasil round of 16 second leg – a tie Athletico ultimately claimed on penalties.

While their last league victory in this fixture came in July 2022, Fogo’s recent form heading into this week’s match suggests a tie could be in the offing with little separating both sides.

Two of the four newly promoted sides to the Brasileiro, Atletico Goianiense and Criciuma battle in Wednesday’s gameweek 10 match at Estadio Antonio Accioly.

Neither side has pulled up trees after nine gameweeks, but the hosts are ostensibly in better shape owing to their higher top-flight standing.

We say: Atletico Goianiense 2-1 Criciuma

Last season’s meetings in the second division saw maximum points claimed by the home side, and the same is expected on Wednesday given their respective forms.

Goals are expected in Goias given recent encounters seeing both sides find the net allied with the away side’s inability to keep clean sheets.

Sao Paulo and Cuiaba are separated by nine places in the Brasileiro table heading into Wednesday’s gameweek 10 match at Estadio Cicero Pompeu de Toledo.

Tricolor Paulista have failed to win in back-to-back games, but they remain undoubted favourites against a side with eight fewer points after nine games.

We say: Sao Paulo 1-1 Cuiaba

Four of the six league meetings between Sao Paulo and Cuiaba have ended in stalemates, with both clubs sharing a win apiece. A fifth draw could be on the cards, as Petit’s men carry a different kind of threat having scored 11 times in their last three matches.

Gremio will hope to move out of the Brasileiro drop zone this week when they head to Estadio Governador Placido Aderaldo Castelo to face Fortaleza on Thursday morning.

The hosts are in 12th place in the league standings, currently on 10 points after eight games, while the visitors are one of four sides on six points at the bottom of the table.

We say: Fortaleza 1-0 Gremio

The 2024 season has been a total nightmare for Gremio so far, as they find themselves without a home ground and missing several players due to international duty and injury. While Fortaleza have certainly not set the league alight themselves this term, they are still unbeaten at home and we feel they will be able to edge a victory in this one.

Juventude and Vasco da Gama will be looking to bounce back to winning ways in Brasileiro when they meet in gameweek 10 at Estadio Alfredo Jaconi on Thursday morning.

The hosts will enter this match in 11th place in the league standings with 10 points after eight games, while the visitors are 15th with seven points after nine matches.

We say: Juventude 1-0 Vasco da Gama

While Juventude saw their wastefulness cost them in the last match, they have been solid at Estadio Alfredo Jaconi in the early stages of this season and will feel that this is a match they can genuinely get three points from.

The visitors have lost four in a row on the road this term, failed to score in their last two away games, and we feel they will suffer another defeat in this one.

Struggling Corinthians travel to Estadio Orlando Scarpelli on Thursday to face Internacional in the Brasileiro, hoping to make this a turning point for their season.

The visitors are winless in five consecutive matches and sit just one place above the relegation zone heading into this affair.

We say: Internacional 1-1 Corinthians

Corinthians have had a poor start to the league campaign and things do not like they will get better at the moment. However, Internacional have also looked out of depth in recent weeks. We think that this will end in a stalemate.

Cruzeiro host Fluminense on Thursday, hoping to secure a win that could propel them into the top five of the Brasileiro.

The visitors, on the other hand, have endured a dismal start and are battling to escape the relegation zone.

We say: Cruzeiro 2-1 Fluminense

Fluminense have looked a shadow of themselves so far, and they seem not to have a clue how to stop the rot. On the other hand, Cruzeiro have been solid at home this season with three wins from as many games. We are backing the hosts to win this one.
