Manchester United transfer news: Jadon Sancho’s future takes a fresh twist

Juventus move into pole position to sign Manchester United attacker Jadon Sancho this summer, according to a report.

SURE ODDS BANNER

Juventus have reportedly moved into pole position to sign Manchester United attacker Jadon Sancho, with the Old Lady cooling their interest in his teammate Mason Greenwood.

Sancho spent the second half of last season on loan at Borussia Dortmund, but as it stands, he is due to return to Old Trafford for the start of pre-season training in the near future.

The 24-year-old is unlikely to play for the Red Devils again, though, having had a high-profile falling-out with head coach Erik ten Hag in the first half of the 2023-24 campaign.

Ten Hag’s future had been in severe doubt, but it is understood that the Dutchman is now remaining as manager, which is likely to lead to Sancho leaving on a permanent basis this summer.

A recent report claimed that Man United would have been looking to sell Sancho even if Ten Hag had lost his job, with the club wanting £40m for his services in the current market.

Juventus ’emerge as favourites for Sancho deal’

Dortmund are keen to re-sign Sancho on a permanent basis, but BVB are allegedly looking for another loan move, which does not fit into Man United’s summer plans.

According to Football Insider, Juventus have now emerged as the favourites for the former Manchester City youngster, with the Old Lady identifying him as a leading target.

Man United have also been linked with Greenwood, but it is believed that the Turin giants are currently focusing on securing a deal for Sancho, who is said to be open to a move to Serie A.

Sancho made 21 appearances for BVB in the second half of last season, scoring three goals and registering three assists, helping the German outfit to reach the Champions League final.

An exit for Sancho this summer is best for all parties

There is no getting away from the fact that Sancho has struggled at Old Trafford, with the forward only managing 12 goals and six assists in 82 appearances for the club in all competitions.

The forward had been expected to start the 2023-24 campaign in Ten Hag’s first XI, but he was only a substitute for the team’s first three Premier League matches before being left out entirely against Arsenal.

Ten Hag said that poor performances in training led to the ex-Man City youngster being omitted from the squad, but Sancho insisted that was not the case, claiming that he had been made “a scapegoat”.

Having refused to apologise for effectively calling his manager a liar, Sancho was removed from the first-team picture at Old Trafford.

The situation led to a loan move back to Dortmund, and it now appears likely that the forward will be leaving Old Trafford on a permanent basis this summer.
