Transfer rumours: Newcastle close on Trafford, Spurs want Stuttgart man, Forest chase Miguel

Sports Mole rounds up the latest transfer rumours, including Newcastle United pushing to sign Burnley goalkeeper James Trafford and Tottenham Hotspur chasing a Stuttgart midfielder.

SURE ODDS BANNER

Newcastle United have reportedly made progress in their efforts to secure the signing of Burnley goalkeeper James Trafford.

While first-choice stropper Nick Pope has recently returned from a long-term shoulder injury, the Magpies are seemingly determined to acquire another player for between the sticks.

In recent days, it has emerged that Eddie Howe is eager to win the hotly-contested race for England Under-21 international James Trafford, who lost his place in the Clarets squad in March.

Although Newcastle are yet to agree a fee with Burnley, transfer expert Fabrizio Romano says that personal terms have been agreed with the player.

Furthermore, it is alleged that Newcastle will now propose a package worth £15m plus performance-related bonuses, a bid that Burnley may feel tempted to accept.

As a result of relegation, the North-West outfit are under pressure to ensure that they comply with the relevant financial regulations, and cashing in on a player who cost £19m last summer may prove to be a necessary move.

Meanwhile, Tottenham Hotspur are allegedly among the clubs who are interested in securing a deal for Stuttgart midfielder Chris Fuhrich.

The 26-year-old has just played a starring role in the German’s side second-placed finish in the Bundesliga, contributing eight goals and seven assists from his 34 appearances.

Stuttgart will naturally be eager to retain the services of the versatile player, Fuhrich having played in central midfield and on the flank during 2023-24.

Nevertheless, Christian Falk of BILD says that Spurs and Bayern Munich are both contemplating meeting the player’s release clause of €23.5m (£19.88m).

Such versatility and attacking traits may suit Spurs head coach Ange Postecoglou‘s style of play, the same applying to Bayern who have just appointed Vincent Kompany as their new boss.

Fuhrich has spent his entire career in Germany, his initial breakthroughs coming with Borussia Dortmund II and Paderborn in lower leagues before his switch to Stuttgart in 2021.

Nottingham Forest are reportedly targeting a goalkeeper from Brazilian football to join their ranks at the City Ground.

Corinthians stopper Carlos Miguel has seemingly been identified as competition for current incumbent Matz Sels after Forest narrowly avoided relegation from the Premier League.

According to reports in Brazil, the 25-year-old is on the verge on penning a five-year contract in order to make the switch to the City Ground.

Miguel, who stands at over two metres tall, is said to possess a release clause in the region of £3.4m, representing value for money for the East Midlands outfit.

In 23 outings for Corinthians, Miguel has kept an impressive 14 clean sheets, while he has conceded just five goals in his eight outings in the Brazilian top flight.
