“Has formally been offered a new deal” – Man Utd issue update on attacker’s future

Manchester United confirm that teenage attacker Omari Forson has been offered a new contract at Old Trafford.

SURE ODDS BANNER

Manchester United have confirmed that Omari Forson has been offered a new contract amid the recent speculation surrounding the attacker’s future.

The 19-year-old made seven first-team appearances for the Red Devils during the 2023-24 campaign, including four outings in the Premier League, providing an assist against Wolverhampton Wanderers on his league debut.

Forson’s contract at Old Trafford is due to expire at the end of June, and a recent report claimed that the teenager was preparing to leave the 20-time English champions this summer.

However, Man United have confirmed that they have offered the England Under-20s international a new deal.

“Omari Forson has formally been offered a new deal,” read a statement on the club’s official website, with fellow first-team duo Jonny Evans and Tom Heaton also in discussions over new contracts.

Forson, who was born in London, spent time with West Ham United and Tottenham Hotspur during his youth career before making the move to Man United in January 2019.

The attacker scored three times and registered three assists for Man United’s Under-23s in Premier League 2 last season, in addition to netting twice in two EFL trophy appearances.

Forson made three FA Cup outings, meanwhile, but he was not in the squad for the final of the competition against Manchester City on May 25.

Man United will now wait to learn of the Englishman’s decision, but Anthony Martial and Raphael Varane‘s exits have already been confirmed, while it has been revealed that Brandon Williams will also be leaving the Red Devils when his contract expires at the end of June.

“Academy graduate, Brandon Williams will leave United following the expiry of his contract. The full-back, who joined the club at the age of nine and proudly went on to make 51 first-team appearances, will always be welcome back at the club through the Alumni programme,” read a statement on the club’s official website.

Williams spent last season on loan with Championship side Ipswich Town, making 17 appearances in all competitions, although he was not used in the second half of the campaign.

Charlie McNeill, Marcus Lawrence and Kie Plumley are also departing, while Under-21s player-coach Tom Huddlestone has not been offered a new contract.

However, the club revealed that Shola Shoretire could pen a new deal, with discussions “open” when it comes to a possible fresh contract for the 20-year-old.

Shoretire has made five first-team appearances for the 20-time English champions, and he spent the second half of the 2022-23 campaign on loan at Bolton Wanderers.
