Real Madrid injury news and return dates before Champions League final – Lunin, Tchouameni

Sports Mole rounds up Real Madrid’s injury and suspension news ahead of Saturday’s Champions League final against Borussia Dortmund.

SURE ODDS BANNER

Champions League crown number 15 is within touching distance for Real Madrid, who need only sink Borussia Dortmund at Wembley on Saturday to conquer the continent again.

After ending Manchester City’s stronghold on the crown in the quarter-finals, Carlo Ancelotti‘s men dramatically fought back to eliminate Bayern Munich 3-2 on aggregate in the final four, where Joselu was the unfancied second-leg hero.

Having already hoisted the La Liga and Supercopa de Espana crowns aloft this season, success in the English capital would complete a domestic and continental treble for Los Blancos, whose players are mostly in good nick.

The infirmary is not totally empty, though, and here, Sports Mole rounds up Real Madrid’s injury and suspension news ahead of Saturday’s Champions League final.

Possible return date: Unknown

David Alaba is yet to take to the field in 2024 owing to his devastating ACL injury, which denied the ex-Bayern man a reunion with his old team in the semis and will also force him to watch the final helplessly from the sidelines.

Status: Out
Type of injury: Foot
Possible return date: Unknown

Despite previous hope that Aurelien Tchouameni would battle back from a foot problem in time for the showpiece match, Ancelotti has now ruled the Frenchman out of the final, leaving him without a useful versatile option in the middle of the park and backline.

Status: Minor doubt
Type of injury: Illness
Possible return date: June 1 (vs. Borussia Dortmund)

Over the past few days, Andriy Lunin has been isolated from the remainder of the squad due to a bout of flu, which he is battling to recover from in time for the final. The Ukrainian shot-stopper is expected to travel to London separate from the rest of his teammates, but his illness makes Ancelotti’s decision to start Thibaut Courtois that little bit easier.

REAL MADRID’S SUSPENSION LIST

Real Madrid have no players suspended for the final.
