Newcastle lineup vs. Brighton: Predicted XI for Premier League clash

Sports Mole takes an in-depth look at how Newcastle United could line up for Saturday’s Premier League clash with Brighton & Hove Albion.

SURE ODDS BANNER

Newcastle United could be without up to eight first-team players for Saturday’s Premier League clash against Brighton & Hove Albion at St James’ Park.

Sven Botman and Jamaal Lascelles (both ACL) remain long-term absentees, although the former has recently been pictured in individual training, while Kieran Trippier could be ruled out for weeks with a hamstring injury.

Lewis Miley (back), Alexander Isak (toe), Callum Wilson (back), Martin Dubravka (knee) and Matt Targett (lacking match fitness) all missed Newcastle’s 0-0 draw with Everton prior to the international break; the former is yet to play for the Magpies this season and he along with the other four will be assessed ahead of kickoff.

In the expected absence of Trippier, Eddie Howe is set to call upon Valentino Livramento to start a right-back and he could join Fabian Schar, Dan Burn and either Lewis Hall or Lloyd Kelly in the back four.

Sandro Tonali has started Newcastle’s last two Premier League games and could retain his place in midfield alongside Brazilian duo Bruno Guimaraes and Joelinton, although both Sean Longstaff and Joe Willock are also in contention to start.

Anthony Gordon, who missed a penalty against Everton last time out, could continue as a central striker if either Isak or Wilson are not fit to start, while Harvey Barnes and Jacob Murphy will be hoping to keep their places on the flanks.

Newcastle United possible starting lineup: Pope; Livramento, Schar, Burn, Hall; Tonali, Guimaraes, Joelinton; Murphy, Gordon, Barnes
