Kylian Mbappe laments ‘fake news’ after Sweden trip during international break

Real Madrid and France forward Kylian Mbappe responds to news reports linking him to an investigation concerning a suspected rape at the hotel in Sweden.

SURE ODDS BANNER

Kylian Mbappe has publicly defended himself following what the Real Madrid star describes as “fake news” from a media outlet in Sweden.

The 25-year-old was scheduled to take part in France‘s October matches on the UEFA Nations League stage against Israel and Belgium on Tuesday night.

However, due to a thigh strain sustained during the 3-2 success over Deportivo Alaves in La Liga on September 24, Mbappe has been left out of contention this month for Les Bleus.

That decision was made despite the forward featuring for Los Blancos on two further occasions following the reported injury versus Alaves.

Mbappe has also caused a stir amongst French supporters by traveling to Sweden and visiting a nightclub whilst Didier Deschamps‘s troops fight away on the international stage.

“Fake news” – Mbappe responds to suggestions of police investigation

Staying in Sweden’s Stockholm from Wednesday until Friday, Mbappe visited Chez Jolie restaurant as well as V nightclub alongside his entourage.

According to reports from Swedish newspaper Aftonbladet, police are now investigating a suspected rape at Bank Hotel, where the French superstar was staying throughout his Scandinavian trip.

Mbappe has quickly responded to the report on his official X account, rubbishing the news and hinting at an ulterior motive behind the publication.

“Fake news. It is becoming so predictable, just before the hearing as if by chance,” said Mbappe to his 14.5m followers on the platform on Monday evening.

Mbappe hints at convenient timing

As alluded to in his social media post, Tuesday will be an important day for Mbappe as he continues to fight a legal battle against former side Paris Saint-Germain.

Les Parisiens are allegedly yet to pay the 25-year-old the final sections of his salary and bonuses at the club, totalling to a staggering £46m.

Focusing on the field, Mbappe should be back in action when Carlo Ancelotti‘s Real Madrid travel to Celta Vigo in La Liga on Saturday night.
