Sports Mole takes an in-depth look at how Brentford could line up for Saturday’s Premier League clash with Wolverhampton Wanderers.
Brentford head coach Thomas Frank might be boosted by the return of two midfielders for Saturday’s Premier League showdown with Wolverhampton Wanderers at the Gtech Community Stadium.
The Bees were without eight players for last weekend’s 1-1 draw with London rivals West Ham United, including Mathias Jensen (calf) and Christian Norgaard (unspecified), but the latter very nearly made the cut.
Brentford fans are still awaiting the latest team news from Frank, but Norgaard seemingly has a good chance of being involved, while Jensen might also return, having had a couple of weeks to battle back from his concern.
The sextet of Rico Henry (knee), Aaron Hickey (thigh), Gustavo Nunes (back), Yoane Wissa (ankle), Igor Thiago (knee) and Josh Dasilva (knee) are still absent, though, and none will be back this side of the international break.
Norgaard’s likely return may force Fabio Carvalho to accept a place on the bench this week, as the Dane joins Vitaly Janelt and Mikkel Damsgaard, who impressed centrally in the Hammers draw.
Kevin Schade‘s enforced withdrawal was only cramp-related, so the German ought to join forces with Keane Lewis-Potter and Bryan Mbeumo, whose 37-second volley against West Ham saw Brentford become the first team to score in the opening minute of three successive Premier League matches.
Further back, Frank is unlikely to make any alterations to the Sepp van den Berg, Ethan Pinnock, Nathan Collins and Kristoffer Ajer defence, as the quartet form an unchanged barrier ahead of Mark Flekken.
Brentford possible starting lineup:
Flekken; Van den Berg, Collins, Pinnock, Ajer; Norgaard, Janelt, Damsgaard; Schade, Mbeumo, Lewis-Potter
