Barcelona lineup vs. Young Boys: Predicted XI for Champions League clash

Sports Mole looks at how Barcelona could line up in their Champions League clash with Young Boys.

SURE ODDS BANNER

Barcelona could have Frenkie de Jong back in their squad for Tuesday’s Champions League fixture against Young Boys, but the Catalan outfit will once again be missing a number of key players.

Fermin Lopez, Dani Olmo, Marc Bernal, Andreas Christensen, Ronald Araujo, Gavi and Marc-Andre ter Stegen all out of the match with injury problems, while Eric Garcia is suspended following his red card in the 2-1 defeat to Monaco in Barcelona’s 2024-25 opener.

De Jong is in the final stages of his recovery from a serious ankle injury, and there is a slight chance that he could be in the squad for the European fixture, but a start is highly unlikely.

There will be changes from the side that started against Osasuna on Saturday, with Barcelona suffering their first La Liga defeat of the campaign at El Sadar.

Lamine Yamal and Raphinha were among those rotated, but the pair are certain to return on Tuesday to rejoin Robert Lewandowski in the final third of the field.

There will also be spots at the back for Inigo Martinez and Alejandro Balde, who both started on the bench against Osasuna, while Marc Casado is set to return in central midfield.

Inaki Pena will have another outing between the sticks, while Pablo Torre is benefitting from Barcelona’s injury problems to play a lot of football this season, and the Spaniard should again be in the XI.

Barcelona possible starting lineup: Pena; Kounde, Cubarsi, I Martinez, Balde; Casado, Torre, Pedri; Lamal, Lewandowski, Raphinha
