Brentford set incredible Premier League scoring record in West Ham draw

Brentford set a Premier League scoring record in Saturday’s 1-1 draw against West Ham United at the Gtech Community Stadium.

SURE ODDS BANNER

Brentford broke a Premier League scoring record in their 1-1 draw against West Ham United.

Bryan Mbeumo required less than a minute to break the deadlock in Saturday’s meeting with the Hammers at the Gtech Community Stadium.

The Cameroon international thumped his volley past Alphonse Areola to register his fifth goal of the Premier League season.

Unfortunately for Mbeumo, he saw his early strike cancelled out by Tomas Soucek‘s second-half equaliser, ensuring Brentford had to settle for a share of the spoils.

Although they missed out on maximum points, Brentford did create a piece of Premier League history courtesy of another fast start.

Brentford set Premier League record

As a result of Mbeumo’s unstoppable volley, the Bees became the first team to score in the first minute of three consecutive Premier League games.

Yoane Wissa scored after 22 seconds in an away meeting with Manchester City, before Mbeumo netted after 23 seconds in last weekend’s clash against Tottenham Hotspur.

While they have created history, Brentford have failed to convert any of their three fast starts into maximum points.

In fact, Thomas Frank‘s side have taken just one point from their last three matches, leaving them without a win since beating Southampton at the end of August.

Frank comments on record-breaking feat

Speaking after the West Ham clash, Frank admitted that it is “unbelievable” to see his side score inside the first minute of three successive league matches.

“I can’t tell you [the secret],” Frank told Match of the Day. “It must be a world record, three games in a row under 40 seconds – it’s unbelievable.

“We had a plan again, it’s a mindset of playing forward and trying to get on the game straight away. I’m very pleased with that.”

Having collected seven points from six games, Brentford are sitting in 12th place in the Premier League table and four points above the drop zone.
