Tottenham injury news and return dates before Newcastle: Solanke, Bentancur latest

Sports Mole rounds up all of Tottenham Hotspur’s injury and suspension news ahead of Sunday’s Premier League clash with Newcastle United.

SURE ODDS BANNER

Fresh from earning their first win of the 2024-25 Premier League season, Tottenham Hotspur bid to banish some recent demons against Newcastle United at St James’ Park on Sunday.

Ange Postecoglou‘s men suffered an embarrassing 4-0 loss on the Magpies’ turf last term, one year on from Cristian Stellini overseeing a 6-1 humiliation during his ill-fated spell.

However, Tottenham head north having just put four unanswered goals past Everton, making up for their lack of ruthlessness in their opening stalemate with Leicester City.

Here, Sports Mole rounds up all of Tottenham’s latest injury and suspension news ahead of the clash with Newcastle, who drew 1-1 with Bournemouth last weekend as the Cherries were controversially denied a late winner.

Status: Out
Type of injury: Ankle
Possible return date: September 15 (vs. Arsenal)

Just a couple of weeks into his Tottenham career, Dominic Solanke picked up an ankle injury which is expected to sideline him until after the international break – a comeback has been provisionally pencilled in for next month’s North London derby.

Status: Major doubt
Type of injury: Head
Possible return date: September 1 (vs. Newcastle United)

Rodrigo Bentancur was knocked out cold in the Lilywhites’ draw with Leicester on matchday one after a clash of heads with Abdul Fatawu, and the midfielder inevitably sat out the win over Everton. Postecoglou has confirmed that Bentancur has passed all the necessary tests with flying colours, but there is still no guarantee that he will be fit for Sunday.

Status: Minor doubt
Type of injury: Calf/hamstring
Possible return date: September 1 (vs. Newcastle United)

Destiny Udogie could not complete the full 90 against Everton due to cramp in his calves and hamstrings, but that should not prevent him from playing on Sunday.
