Spurs transfer news: £20m-rated Juventus midfielder on Postecoglou radar?

Tottenham Hotspur are allegedly interested in securing the signature of a Juventus midfielder before the end of the summer transfer window.

SURE ODDS BANNER

Tottenham Hotspur are reportedly interested in signing Juventus midfielder Manuel Locatelli before the end of the summer transfer window.

The North Londoners can claim to have enjoyed a productive period in the market with prospects Archie Gray and Lucas Bergvall strengthening Ange Postecoglou‘s options in the engine room.

Gray can be viewed as an alternative to Pierre-Emile Hojbjerg, who has left for Marseille, yet Spurs remain with strong depth in that area of the pitch.

However, Oliver Skipp may depart the Tottenham Hotspur Stadium for the right price, while Yves Bissouma has recently been suspended by the club for his off-the-field behaviour.

With Giovani Lo Celso another player who may leave over the next two-and-a-half weeks, it is plausible that another midfielder could move to the North Londoners.

Locatelli emerges on Spurs radar

According to Football Insider, Postecoglou holds an interest in adding Locatelli to his squad.

The 26-year-old has spent the last three seasons in Turin, contributing four goals and 13 assists from his 132 appearances in all competitions.

When fit, the Italy international is a likely starter, yet Juventus are in the process of rejigging their squad with Thiago Motta now at the helm.

Back in 2021, Juventus committed to a deal that could reach €37.5m, yet they are now allegedly prepared to part ways with Locatelli for £20m.

That will be deemed as value for money on the market, creating a scenario where a number of other teams could register an interest in due course.

Spurs no strangers to doing business with Juventus

In 2021, Spurs acquired Fabio Paratici from Juventus to become their new director of football, and there have been several instances since when they have conducted business with their Italian counterparts.

Rodrigo Bentancur and Dejan Kulusevski were both signed from the Italian giants, while Cristian Romero is a former Juventus player albeit having been signed from Atalanta BC.

As it stands, it is unclear whether Spurs would consider signing an alternative midfielder, or if they need to wait to sell a player like Skipp before making a formal approach.

Locatelli, who has four years left on his contract, has played a full part of Juventus’ pre-season, including 74 minutes versus Atletico Madrid last week.
