Wolves transfer news: Several clubs ‘make enquiries’ for Championship forward

Wolverhampton Wanderers are reportedly among a number of clubs who hold an interest in signing a player who scored 16 times in the Championship last season.

SURE ODDS BANNER

Wolverhampton Wanderers are reportedly contemplating whether to make a formal approach for a Championship striker.

The West Midlands outfit enjoyed a proactive start to the summer transfer window, signing the likes of Pedro Lima, Rodrigo Gomes and Jorgen Strand Larsen.

With several players also returning to the squad from loan spells elsewhere, Gary O’Neil has not felt the need to rush any further business.

Nevertheless, with a centre-back and centre-midfielder still believed to be on the club’s radar, further fresh faces are expected to arrived at Molineux in due course.

As a result of the likes of Daniel Podence and Chiquinho having played a part in pre-season, Wolves are well-stocked for options in the final third ahead of their Premier League opener against Arsenal on August 17.

However, according to Tutto Mercato Web, Wolves are still interested in securing the services of another player for the middle of their attack.

Latte Lath on Wolves radar

The report claims that Wolves have placed Middlesbrough forward Emmanuel Latte Lath on their shortlist of potential arrivals before the end of the transfer window.

In his first season of Championship football, the 25-year-old contributed an impressive 16 goals from 30 appearances, including a sensational end to the campaign which included eight strikes from six outings.

Although Middlesbrough have the Ivory Coast international tied down to a contract until 2027, they will naturally be expecting offers for a player who netted 14 times in the Swiss Super League during the previous season.

Monaco are allegedly viewed as the team who are most interested in Latte Lath at this stage, with Red Bull Salzburg also monitoring the situation.

Middlesbrough will reportedly demand in excess of €10m (£8.59m) if any club firms up their admiration of the frontman in due course.

Do Wolves need to add a player like Latte Lath?

During the second half of last season, it was well documented that Wolves struggled for options in the final third due to injuries to Hwang Hee-chan and Matheus Cunha.

With the addition of Strand Larsen, though, O’Neil has three players who can be used down the middle, with Podence and Chiquinho providing extra cover on the flanks.

One or both of those players could depart Wolves over the coming weeks, giving Wolves a reason to re-enter the market, while a decision must also be made on the future of Goncalo Guedes.

As it stands, there are nine players providing competition for places in the final third, so acquiring Latte Lath at this stage may not be at the top of Wolves’ priorities.
