Man United, Liverpool target outlines his transfer plans amid exit talk

Manchester United and Liverpool-linked David Hancko comments on his Feyenoord future amid rumours of a potential move to Atletico Madrid.

SURE ODDS BANNER

Feyenoord defender David Hancko has reportedly ruled out a summer departure despite interest from Manchester United and Liverpool.

Hancko spent time with Zilina, Fiorentina and Sparta Prague before he completed a move to Feyenoord in the summer of 2022.

The 26-year-old has gone on to make 94 appearances for the Dutch club, helping the club win the 2022-23 Eredivisie title, 2023-24 KNVB Beker and Sunday’s Dutch Super Cup against PSV Eindhoven.

Hancko, who can play as a left-back or central defender, has been linked with a potential reunion with his former manager Arne Slot, who left Feyenoord for Liverpool at the end of last season.

Man United are also believed to be among Hancko’s admirers, having added him to a shortlist of potential left-back signings.

Hancko addresses transfer speculation

In addition to the Premier League interest, Hancko has been touted as a possible transfer target for Spanish side Atletico Madrid.

Diego Simeone‘s side appear to be leading the race to sign Hancko but are struggling to reach an agreement over a transfer.

While there is uncertainty surrounding his future, Hancko has insisted that he loves Feyenoord and is open to staying put this summer, dealing a potential blow to his suitors.

As per Fabrizio Romano, Hancko said: “Atletico Madrid? I didn’t like how the media said my head was turned because of the salary Atleti would have offered… that’s not true”.

“I already have a great contract here. For me, it’s not about the money. I definitely understand that Feyenoord is demanding more money from Atleti.

“This isn’t something in my hands, and I can’t do anything about that. It’s not a punishment if I stay at Feyenoord. I love this club.”

Man United, Liverpool may have to look elsewhere

Even if Hancko were to leave De Kuip in the next few weeks, it seems unlikely that he will complete a move to the Premier League, with Atletico working hard to secure his signature.

Man United and Liverpool will have to turn their focus to alternative targets if they are to bolster the left side of their defence.

Erik ten Hag‘s side are believed to be considering Crystal Palace‘s Tyrick Mitchell and former Barcelona full-back Marcos Alonso.

Meanwhile, Liverpool are weighing up a potential move for Lanus left-back Julio Soler, who recently represented Argentina at the Olympic Games.
