Liverpool have reportedly set a £12m asking price for talented teenage midfielder Bobby Clark after turning down an opening bid from Austrian side Red Bull Salzburg.

SURE ODDS BANNER

Liverpool have reportedly set a £12m asking price for their talented teenage midfielder Bobby Clark after turning down an opening bid from Austrian side Red Bull Salzburg.

The 19-year-old midfielder missed the Reds’ tour of the US due to a back injury but has since returned to training with the club’s Under-21s at Kirkby.

Clark featured in twelve first-team matches for Liverpool last season, netting one goal and assisting another in their 6-1 thrashing of Sparta Prague at Anfield.

New Salzburg boss Pep Lijnders, formerly the Reds’ assistant coach under Jurgen Klopp, is reportedly eager to bring the Liverpool youngster to Austria ahead of the 2024-25 campaign.

The Dutch coach worked with Clark at the Merseyside club over the last few years and is believed to be a huge admirer of the 19-year-old.

Liverpool set asking price for Bobby Clark

According to The Athletic, Salzburg tabled an offer of around £6m to sign Clark this summer but Liverpool swiftly rejected their bid as it did not match their valuation of the player.

The report adds that the Reds are in no rush to sell the 19-year-old midfielder and have now set a £12m asking price to consider parting ways with him.

Clark was handed a new contract at Anfield last season and his current deal with the club only expires in the summer of 2028.

However, it is understood that despite Liverpool’s reported asking price, the Austrian outfit remain interested in the youngster and are preparing to make another bid in the coming days.

Championship sides Norwich City and Leeds United, along with Scottish Premiership giants Rangers have also been credited with interest in the Reds’ midfielder.

Uncertain futures for Liverpool youngsters

Aside from Clark, James McConnell and Kaide Gordon are also attracting interest for loan moves from clubs outside of the Premier League this summer.

Additionally, Ben Doak is believed to be drawing interest from newly promoted Leicester City and Southampton for a potential loan move.

Two of the starting 11 from the Reds’ victories over Real Betis and Arsenal in pre-season, Sepp van den Berg and Fabio Carvalho, also face uncertain futures at Anfield.

Both players have attracted significant interest this summer, with the Reds recently rejecting a bid of around £10m from PSV Eindhoven for Van den Berg.
