Barcelona have reportedly reached an agreement with Dani Olmo over a contract until June 2030, while a fresh bid is said to have been sent to RB Leipzig.

Athletic Bilbao‘s Nico Williams had been Barcelona’s leading transfer target this summer, but it now appears that the forward will be staying at San Mames.

Olmo has also been heavily linked with a return to Camp Nou, with the attacker set to leave Leipzig during this summer’s transfer window.

Manchester City have been credited with an interest in the Spain international, but it appears that Barcelona are firmly at the head of the queue for his services.

According to transfer expert Fabrizio Romano, Barcelona have now reached an agreement with the forward over a contract until June 2030.

Olmo ‘agrees’ six-year contract at Camp Nou

Romano claims that Barcelona have also now sent a fresh proposal to Leipzig, but it remains to be seen whether the Bundesliga outfit are prepared to accept the deal.

It is understood that the Catalan giants have offered a €55m (£46.4m) guaranteed fee, in addition to a potential further €7m (£5.9m) in add-ons.

A €60m (£50.6m) release clause in Olmo’s Leipzig contract expired in the middle of last month, meaning that the German outfit are now in a strong negotiating position.

However, Olmo is believed to have made it clear that he wants to secure a return to the club that he represented at academy level between 2017 and 2014 before joining Dinamo Zagreb.

Barcelona ‘submit’ fresh offer for Olmo

Olmo played a vital role in Spain winning Euro 2024, scoring three goals and registering two assists in six appearances at the competition.

The attacker did not start the tournament in Luis de la Fuente‘s first XI, but he benefitted from an injury to Pedri to play a vital role in the latter stages.

Olmo made the move to Leipzig from Dinamo Zagreb in January 2020, and he has represented his current side on 148 occasions in all competitions, scoring 29 goals and registering 34 assists in the process.

The attacker is capable of operating in a wide position, but he plays his best football through the middle and is likely to operate as an advanced midfielder for Hansi Flick‘s side, should the move be completed.
