Man United defender’s exit ‘at risk of collapse’ over wage demands

Manchester United defender Aaron Wan-Bissaka could allegedly yet price himself out of a switch to West Ham United this summer.

SURE ODDS BANNER

Manchester United right-back Aaron Wan-Bissaka could reportedly yet price himself out of a switch to West Ham United due to his wage demands.

The Englishman has seemingly emerged as West Ham’s leading right-back target after the club missed out on a deal for Bayern Munich‘s Noussair Mazraoui, who could now make the move to Man United.

Any Red Devils deal for Mazraoui hinges on a departure for Wan-Bissaka, though, with Erik ten Hag‘s side waiting to sell the ex-Crystal Palace youngster before potentially closing a transfer for the Bayern full-back.

According to The Sun, West Ham are close to agreeing a deal with Man United for the 26-year-old, but the report claims that Wan-Bissaka might yet price himself out of a switch to the London Stadium.

Wan-Bissaka deal ‘could break down over wage demands’

West Ham have allegedly agreed to pay around £10m for Wan-Bissaka, who only has another year left to run on his contract at Old Trafford.

However, the defender will seemingly have to drop his wage demands if a switch to the Hammers is to be completed.

Southampton‘s Kyle Walker-Peters has allegedly also been discussed, with the Englishman seen as an alternative to Mazraoui.

Wan-Bissaka, though, is now thought to be the London club’s firm target, and at £10m, he would represent a bargain in the current market.

The defender featured on 30 occasions for Man United last season and has represented the Red Devils on 190 occasions since his arrival from Palace in 2019.

Will any other Man United defenders leave this summer?

There has been speculation surrounding Harry Maguire‘s future, but the centre-back recently said that he will be remaining at Old Trafford this summer.

Jonny Evans has signed a new deal, while Luke Shaw, Diogo Dalot and Lisandro Martinez are certainties to stay at the club.

The same cannot be said for Victor Lindelof, though, with Man United thought to be actively looking for a buyer for the Sweden international.

A departure for Lindelof could open the door for Man United to bring in another centre-back, with Bayern’s Matthijs de Ligt said to be at the top of their wishlist, and personal terms with the Netherlands international are thought to have been agreed earlier this summer.
