Leeds transfer news: ‘Bid made’ for winger as Summerville exit talk continues

Leeds United reportedly make an approach for a potential replacement for winger Crysencio Summerville, who has been linked with an exit from Elland Road.

SURE ODDS BANNER

Leeds United have reportedly made an offer for Fenerbahce winger Ryan Kent ahead of a likely exit for Crysencio Summerville.

Having missed out on an immediate return to the Premier League, the Yorkshire giants have been forced into making a number of sales.

Well in excess of £60m has been generated from those deals, and more is likely to be recouped through at least one more big-money departure.

Summerville – last season’s Championship Player Of The Year – has been available throughout the summer transfer window, Leeds currently holding firm over their valuation.

As per Fabrizio Romano, West Ham United have agreed personal terms with the Dutchman and will now attempt to negotiate a fee with their Leeds counterparts.

Kent to be signed as Summerville replacement?

Although Leeds are expected to raised more than £20m through the sale of Summerville, it appears that they could secure a replacement for a fraction of that fee.

According to Haber Ekspres Gazetesi, Leeds have put forward a €3m (£2.53m) for Kent.

The 27-year-old’s first season at Fenerbahce was hugely disappointing with just one goal and two assists coming from 18 appearances.

While the former Rangers man played 68 minutes of the first leg of the Champions League second qualifying round tie against Lugano last week, he was an unused substitute for the reverse fixture.

That could be perceived to be an indication that he will not be viewed as a first-choice option by Jose Mourinho for 2024-25.

Fenerbahce may be prepared to entertain a sale given their recent vast financial outlay, particularly when any fee brought in will go down as pure profit in the eyes of the regulations after he was signed on a free transfer.

Perfect place for a career revival?

The best period of Kent’s career undoubtedly came during his stint with Rangers, where he chipped in with 33 goals and 56 assists from 218 appearances in all competitions.

He has not had any prolonged success in English football, chipping in with just three goals and five assists from 54 outings in the Championship.

Nevertheless, representing a big club in the second tier could be ideal for Kent as he bids to kick-start his career.

There are still three years remaining on his contract, putting Fenerbahce in a strong position to demand a higher fee for his signature.
