England 1966 World Cup: How many members of the squad can you name 58 years on?

To celebrate the 58-year anniversary of England winning the 1966 World Cup, Sports Mole challenges you to name every member of Sir Alf Ramsey’s victorious squad.

SURE ODDS BANNER

As England continue to lick their wounds after losing a second successive European Championship final, the legendary team of 1966 remains the only men’s Three Lions side to win a major trophy.

That revered moment occurred 58 years ago today, as Sir Alf Ramsey‘s ‘Wingless Wonders’ produced arguably the greatest day in English sporting history at Wembley on July 30, 1966.

A dramatic 4-2 victory after extra time over bitter rivals West Germany saw England lift the Jules Rimet trophy aloft for the first, and still only time, with this summer’s defeat to Spain ensuring that the wait will extend to 60 years of hurt.

While everyone associated with England will be dreaming of writing another chapter into the books alongside that 1966 World Cup triumph, for now it remains steeped in history and out on its own as English football’s most legendary moment.

To celebrate the anniversary, here Sports Mole challenges you to name Ramsey’s squad from the tournament on home soil.
