Man United transfer news: Cut-price asking price ‘placed’ on Christian Eriksen

Manchester United are reportedly prepared to cash in on Christian Eriksen for a cut-price fee during the summer transfer window.

SURE ODDS BANNER

Manchester United reportedly make a decision over the asking price of Christian Eriksen.

The Red Devils are currently going through a period of transition with Sir Jim Ratcliffe and the club’s recruitment team eager to make a number of high-profile additions.

Lille defender Leny Yoro followed Bologna forward Joshua Zirkzee in making the switch to Old Trafford, those deals potentially being worth in excess of £85m.

However, that level of financial outlay has made it inevitable that United will have to reduce their outgoings and make player sales during the final five weeks of the summer transfer window.

United are yet to make any alterations to their options in midfield, despite speculation regarding exits for the likes of Casemiro and Scott McTominay.

Eriksen asking price set

Eriksen is another player who is thought to have been made available for transfer, partly due to falling down the pecking order under Erik ten Hag.

While the 32-year-old did feature during the final six games of the season, he did not start after the 4-0 humbling at the hands of Crystal Palace.

Furthermore, the Denmark international has less than a year remaining on his contract and is not in line to be offered a renewal.

According to CaughtOffside, United officials have reached the conclusion that they are prepared to sell the playmaker for just £4.23m (€5m).

With Eriksen having been signed on a free transfer in 2022, that would still represent a profit in the eyes of the Premier League’s Profit and Sustainability regulations.

Who are interested in Eriksen?

Former club Ajax are said to be one of the clubs who are considering whether to make a move for Eriksen over the coming weeks.

The Dutch giants now have Francesco Farioli in charge, the Italian tasked with trying to rebuild the team on the back of last season’s dismal campaign.

Meanwhile, Anderlecht are reportedly monitoring the situation, the hope being that regular first-team football can convince Eriksen to make the switch to Belgium.

Although Eriksen started each of Denmark’s four matches at Euro 2024, just 14 starts came for United in all competitions during 2023-24.
