Everton complete loan deal for Napoli winger Jesper Lindstrom

Everton announce that they have completed the loan signing of Napoli winger Jesper Lindstrom.

SURE ODDS BANNER

Everton have confirmed that they have finalised the loan signing of Napoli winger Jesper Lindstrom.

Having successfully fended off the threat of further points deductions through breaching the Premier League’s Profit and Sustainability regulations, the Toffees are now in a position where they have more leeway in the market.

That is particularly the case now that Amadou Onana has completed his £50m transfer to Aston Villa, and Sean Dyche will eventually need to add at least one more central midfielder to his squad.

In the short term, though, Dyche and the club’s recruitment team have taken the opportunity to get a deal for Lindstrom over the line.

The Denmark international arrives at Goodison Park on a season-long loan deal with the Merseyside outfit possessing the option to sign him on a permanent basis.

Lindstrom gives clear message to Everton

Although the initial deal is only due to last just over 11 months, the 24-year-old has revealed that he has ambitions to remain at Everton in the long term.

Speaking to the club’s official website, Lindstrom said: “I feel very good. It’s amazing to represent Everton.

“This is a big club, with big history, a good stadium and, as I’ve seen, very good facilities as well. I’m very, very happy to be here and I feel like this is a good fit.

“I actually heard of Everton’s interest a while ago – not only from now but previously. England is very similar to Denmark so I will feel at home quickly. The people have been very nice and very humble. I’m really looking forward to getting started.

“I feel like all of the experiences I’ve had so far have readied me for this moment. I’ve played in a few different leagues now, I’ve played international football and in the Champions League and Europa League. I feel like I’m ready. I feel like I can help the team and that is what I want to do. I want to show the fans that I’m here.

“This is a season for me to come back on track. I think this is a very good fit for me and I’m ready to show why I should stay here.”

Why Lindstrom is looking to bounce back

After two productive campaigns with Eintracht Frankfurt where he contributed 14 goals and 14 assists from 80 appearances, everything appeared set up for Lindstrom to kick on at Napoli.

Instead, he would be given just 416 minutes of Serie A football spread over 22 matches, failing to contribute in the final third.

Napoli chose to commit to paying in the region of €30m for Lindstrom and now find themselves in a position where they will be eager for the playmaker to kick-start his career in England.
