Liverpool transfer news: Reds ‘learn’ asking price for Gleison Bremer

Juventus are reportedly demanding at least £50m for Brazil international Gleison Bremer, with the defender attracting interest from Liverpool this summer.

SURE ODDS BANNER

Liverpool have reportedly learnt of the asking price for Juventus defender Gleison Bremer.

The 27-year-old has spent part of the summer away with Brazil in the United States, where the Selecao were gunning for Copa America glory.

Despite featuring heavily in club football last term, Bremer was not picked on any starting XIs at the tournament, failing to get off the bench.

As alluded to, the centre-back was a key part of Juventus’ backline during 2023-24, starting 36 Serie A matches and providing two goalscoring moments.

Since making the switch from Turin to Juve during the summer of 2022, Bremer has featured in 83 competitive matches for the Old Lady, scoring on eight occasions.

Liverpool ‘learn’ Bremer price tag

According to Football Insider, the acquisition of Bremer this summer for Liverpool – or other potential suitors – is set to be an expensive one.

The report claims that the Old Lady have set a £50m asking price for the 27-year-old, who has been capped five times for the Selecao since September 2022.

Arne Slot is yet to make a signing during his short spell in charge at Anfield, with the Dutchman hoping to replicate the success of Jurgen Klopp at the club.

After signing a new deal in December 2023, Bremer is contracted to the Allianz Stadium side until the summer of 2028, meaning that Juventus are in no rush to sell.

The defender has also recently expressed his content with the Old Lady, as he looks forward to starting the new campaign under the leadership of Thiago Motta.

What other centre-backs could join Liverpool?

As well as Bremer, Liverpool have been linked this summer with Crystal Palace and England defender Marc Guehi, whose value has likely risen massively over the past month.

The Eagles centre-back starred for Gareth Southgate‘s side at Euro 2024 in the absence of Harry Maguire, forming a good partnership with John Stones.

With plenty of international pedigree, Guehi is attracting the interest of major clubs in the Premier League as they all plan a swoop for the player.

However, with Oliver Glasner‘s troops demanding £70m for the services of the centre-back, it is understood that Liverpool are currently looking elsewhere for centre-back reinforcements.
