Three right-backs Man United could sign this summer to replace Aaron Wan-Bissaka

Sports Mole looks at three right-backs that Manchester United could sign this summer if Aaron Wan-Bissaka leaves.

SURE ODDS BANNER

Aaron Wan-Bissaka is currently being heavily linked with a move away from Manchester United, with the Englishman said to be available for as little as £10m during the summer transfer window.

The ex-Crystal Palace youngster is out of contract next summer, and Man United are believed to be keen to move him on during the current window, with West Ham United said to be interested.

Diogo Dalot is Man United’s first-choice right-back, but an exit for Wan-Bissaka would put the 20-time English champions in the market for a replacement, and with that in mind, Sports Mole looks at three possible incomings for Erik ten Hag‘s side in that area of the field.

Mazraoui’s future is currently the subject of much speculation, with Man United and West Ham both said to be keeping a close eye on his situation at Bayern.

The Munich giants are allegedly prepared to sell him this summer, potentially for as little as €15m (£12.6m), so he would represent a bargain signing in the current market.

Mazraoui made the move to Bayern from Ajax in July 2022, and he has represented the German team on 55 occasions, scoring once and registering eight assists in the process.

Last season, the 26-year-old made 29 appearances for Bayern, providing four assists, but he has now entered the final two years of his contract at Allianz Arena.

The Morocco international is well-known to Man United boss Ten Hag due to their time together at Ajax, and the pair could now be set for a reunion in Manchester this summer.

Frimpong is also said to be admired by Man United, and the 23-year-old enjoyed an impressive 2023-24 campaign at Leverkusen, scoring 14 goals and registering 12 assists in 47 appearances.

The Netherlands international was then in action for his country at Euro 2024, making three appearances, but he was an unused substitute against England in the semi-finals of the tournament.

Frimpong had a €40m (£34m) release clause in his contract earlier this summer, but it is believed that buy-out fee has now expired, putting Leverkusen in a position to demand a higher figure.

The Dutchman plays his best football as a right-sided wing-back, and there will be concerns over his ability to operate in a back four, with Ten Hag set to stick with a 4-3-3 formation next term.

However, there is no doubting his quality, and he would also provide another potential wide option in matches where Ten Hag wants to be more defensive from the first whistle.

Ryerson made the move to Dortmund from Union Berlin in 2023, and he has made 54 appearances for BVB in all competitions, scoring five goals and registering two assists in the process.

Last season, the 26-year-old scored four goals and managed one assist in 34 appearances for his German club, and he particularly impressed in his side’s run to the Champions League final.

Ryerson has entered the final two years of his contract, and while Dortmund will be determined to keep hold of him, it would be interesting to see the club’s stance if Man United presented a suitable offer.

The Norway international has impressed from both a defensive and offensive point of view over the last few years, and he would certainly prove to be an upgrade on Wan-Bissaka this summer.
