Barcelona will begin their preparations for the 2024-25 campaign with a friendly against Manchester City on July 30, while they will also take on Real Madrid and AC Milan doing their pre-season tour of the United States.

Three of the club’s first-team players are set to miss their entire pre-season, though, having been selected to represent their country at the Paris 2024 Olympics.

The football tournament will run from July 24 until August 10, with Barcelona’s La Liga campaign due to begin seven days after the Olympic final against Valencia.

Here, Sports Mole takes a look at the three players who will be taking to the field for Spain Under-23s at the competition in France.

Cubarsi was named in the preliminary Spain squad for Euro 2024, but the 17-year-old missed the final cut.

The Barcelona centre-back will have the chance to secure glory for his country this summer, though, as he prepares to take to the field in the Olympics.

Cubarsi made the breakthrough into the Catalan outfit’s back four last season, ending the campaign with 24 appearances to his name, and there is huge excitement surrounding his future.

The defender is again expected to be an important player for Barcelona in the new campaign, and he is also set to play a key role for his country this summer.

Garcia is back with Barcelona this summer, having spent the 2023-24 campaign on loan at Girona, making 32 appearances last term, including 30 in Spain’s top flight.

The 23-year-old has made 70 appearances for his club in all competitions, but it remains to be seen whether he has a long-term future at Camp Nou.

For the moment, Garcia, who has been capped on 19 occasions by Spain, will be focusing on helping his country secure success at the Olympics.

After that, the focus will then be on his club future, with Barcelona needing to decide whether to keep hold of the centre-back or attempt to sell him in the final stages of the transfer window.

Garcia has previously played in the Olympics, helping Spain secure a silver medal in 2021.

Fermin broke into the Barcelona first team last season after a successful campaign on loan at Linares.

The 21-year-old proved to be an important player for the Catalan outfit in 2023-24, scoring 11 goals and registering one assist in 42 appearances in all competitions.

Fermin was named in the Spain squad for Euro 2024, and he featured against Albania, but the youngster was not used in the knockout rounds of the tournament.

The midfielder is expected to be an important player for his country in Paris, and he will then head back to Camp Nou in the hope of enjoying another strong campaign for the 27-time La Liga champions.
