Man United ‘must’ sell midfielder in order to recruit Manuel Ugarte

Manchester United will reportedly have to sell midfielder Casemiro before they can look to sign Paris Saint-Germain’s Manuel Ugarte.

SURE ODDS BANNER

Manchester United reportedly need to sell Casemiro in order to pursue a move for Paris Saint-Germain midfielder Manuel Ugarte.

The 23-year-old is being linked with a PSG departure despite only joining the French club from Sporting Lisbon last summer.

The player’s agent Jorge Chijane recently revealed that it is “almost certain” that Ugarte will leave the Ligue 1 Champions amid interest from across Europe.

Manchester City, Liverpool, Juventus and AC Milan have all been linked, but Man United are believed to be leading the race for Ugarte’s signature.

A recent report claimed that the Uruguay international is keen to complete a move to the 20-time English champions this summer.

Man United need to sell Casemiro to fund Ugarte move

However, according to Give Me Sport, via TEAMtalk, Man United need to sell Casemiro before they can look to recruit Ugarte from PSG.

The report claims that Man United need to raise funds for Ugarte’s signing, with the Red Devils already set to spend a considerable amount to complete two summer additions.

They have reached an agreement to sign Bologna‘s Joshua Zirkzee for £35.7m, while they are in talks to sign the £42m-rated Matthijs de Ligt from Bayern Munich.

The Red Devils have already failed with a reported £38m bid and are reluctant to pay anything over £45m for the Uruguayan.

PSG are believed to be looking for around £51m to part ways with a player that is under contract until the summer of 2028.

Who could sign Casemiro this summer?

Casemiro is being heavily linked with a move away from Old Trafford despite having two years left on his contract with the option to extend by a further 12 months.

A transfer to the Saudi Pro League appears to be the only realistic avenue for Casemiro to leave the Premier League this summer.

Saudi Arabian club Al-Ittihad are believed to be in discussions over a potential move which would see Casemiro reunite with his former Real Madrid teammate Karim Benzema.

While it is unclear how much Al-Ittihad are willing to pay, Man United are hoping to receive a £30m fee to part ways with the experienced midfielder.

If they can strike a deal for Casemiro’s sale, it would allow the Red Devils to offload his significant £350,000-a-week wages.
