Chelsea transfer news: Blues ‘open’ talks over £25m deal for Bundesliga attacker

Chelsea are reportedly in talks with the representatives of Karim Adeyemi over a possible switch for the Borussia Dortmund man to Stamford Bridge this summer..

SURE ODDS BANNER

Chelsea are reportedly interested in signing Borussia Dortmund attacker Karim Adeyemi.

The 22-year-old has enjoyed a summer break after failing to be selected for Germany’s Euro 2024 squad following a mixed campaign in club football.

Adeyemi made 21 appearances – 10 of those being starts – in the Bundesliga last season, as Edin Terzic‘s troops finished fifth in the German top flight.

Despite disappointment domestically, Dortmund shone on the continental stage with the help of the former RB Salzburg man, reaching the Champions League final before losing to Real Madrid.

Since making the switch from the perennial Austrian champions in July 2022, Adeyemi has made 66 competitive appearances for the German giants, scoring on 14 occasions.

Chelsea ‘open’ talks’ with Dortmund’s Adeyemi

According to German journalist Christian Falk, Adeyemi’s two-year stint at Signal Iduna Park could be coming to a surprise end this summer.

The report claims that Premier League outfit Chelsea are interested in securing the services of the 22-year-old ahead of the 2024-25 term.

It is understood that the Blues have already made contact with Adeyemi as they attempt to convince the player to the make the switch to England.

Chelsea are said to be close to opening talks with Dortmund over a suitable fee for the attacker, who has represented Die Mannschaft four times since August 2021.

It is believed that Dortmund are looking to pocket £25m from the sale of Adeyemi, with Italian side Juventus also keen on a swoop for the forward.

Another new era for Chelsea

Following a disappointing Premier League campaign for Chelsea overall, in which they finished sixth, the Blues parted ways with Mauricio Pochettino.

An Argentinian has been replaced by an Italian in the managerial hotseat, with Enzo Maresca taking up the post at Stamford Bridge ahead of the new term.

A former assistant to Pep Guardiola, Maresca guided Leicester City to the Championship title last season, with the Foxes securing an immediate return to the Premier League.

The former Leicester man has already raided the King Power Stadium for its top talent, with Kiernan Dewsbury-Hall moving to West London for a fee in the region of £30m.
