Rooney aims cheeky dig at ex-teammate in Plymouth press conference | Sport

Wayne Rooney took a cheeky dig at former teammate Gary Neville during his first press conference as Plymouth Argyle manager on Thursday 4 July.

SURE ODDS BANNER

The former England captain was appointed by the Championship club in May, having previously lasted just three months in charge at Birmingham.

When asked about his decision to make a quick return to management – having appeared as a pundit on BBC’s coverage of Euro 2024 last month – Rooney took a light-hearted jab at a former Manchester United teammate.

“I don’t want to become the next Gary Neville,” he joked.

“Since January it’s been a real strange time being at home. I’ve done bits of TV work, but my real desire is to get back into management.”
