Brazil lineup vs. Uruguay: Predicted XI for Copa America quarter-final match

Sports Mole takes an in-depth look at how Brazil could line up for Sunday’s Copa America quarter-final clash with Uruguay.

SURE ODDS BANNER

Brazil will be without star attacker Vinicius Junior for Sunday’s Copa America quarter-final clash with Uruguay at Allegiant Stadium in Las Vegas.

The Real Madrid man picked up his second yellow card of the tournament in Wednesday’s 1-1 draw with Colombia in the group stage and will subsequently serve a one-match suspension.

In the absence of Vinicius, head coach Dorival Junior could hand 17-year-old sensation Endrick as start up front, with Rodrygo moving out to the left flank as Raphinha – who scored a superb free kick in the draw with Colombia – retains his spot on the right.

Dorival will also consider handing a start to Manchester City-bound Savio, Arsenal’s Gabriel Martinelli or Porto’s Pepe, but all three wingers will most likely be used as impact substitutes.

Lucas Paqueta, who has been linked with a potential return to Flamengo this summer, is set to continue in the number 10 role, while Douglas Luiz, Andreas Pereira and Ederson will all be pushing to start in midfield at the expense of either Bruno Guimaraes or Joao Gomes.

Defensive trio Danilo, Eder Militao and Marquinhos started in all three group games for Brazil and are expected to continue in the back four, but the left-back spot is up for grabs with Wendell hoping to fend off competition from Guilherme Arana and Lucas Beraldo to continue in the first XI.

Brazil possible starting lineup: Alisson; Danilo, Militao, Marquinhos, Arana; Guimaraes, Gomes; Raphinha, Paqueta, Rodrygo; Endrick
