Germany lineup vs. Spain: Predicted XI for Euro 2024 quarter-final match

Sports Mole takes an in-depth look at how Germany could line up for Friday’s Euro 2024 quarter-final clash with Spain.

SURE ODDS BANNER

Germany head coach Julian Nagelsmann will weigh up whether to recall defender Jonathan Tah to his starting lineup for Friday’s Euro 2024 quarter-final showdown with Spain at the MHPArena in Stuttgart.

Tah served a one-match suspension as Die Mannschaft secured a 2-0 victory over Denmark in the last 16, with Nico Schlotterbeck taking his place in central defence alongside Antonio Rudiger.

Although Schlotterbeck played well and helped Germany keep a clean sheet last time out, Tah remains Nagelsmann’s first-choice centre-back option next to Rudiger and is expected to earn a recall.

Left-back Maximilian Mittelstadt will also be looking to force his way back into the first XI ahead of David Raum after he was dropped against Denmark, while Joshua Kimmich is expected to keep his spot at right-back.

Nagelsmann is unlikely to tinker with his midfield, so Toni Kroos and Robert Andrich are set to continue in deeper positions as captain Ilkay Gundogan operates in the number 10 role and links up with the attack.

Leroy Sane was handed a start at the expense of Florian Wirtz against Denmark, but after failing to make a real impact across the 90 minutes, the former is likely to be replaced by the latter on Friday.

Jamal Musiala and Kai Havertz were both on the scoresheet against Denmark; Musiala is the joint-top scorer at Euro 2024 with three goals and could move over to the right side of attack if Wirtz is recalled on the left, while Havertz should keep his spot up front, forcing Niclas Fullkrug to once again begin as a substitute.

Germany possible starting lineup: Neuer; Kimmich, Tah, Rudiger, Raum; Kroos, Andrich; Musiala, Gundogan, Wirtz; Havertz
