Man United transfer news: Englishman ‘offered’ to Man City, Arsenal, Chelsea

Manchester United’s Sir Jim Ratcliffe reportedly offers an England international to Premier League rivals Manchester City, Arsenal and Chelsea.

SURE ODDS BANNER

Manchester City have reportedly been contacted by rivals Manchester United over the prospect of a sensational reunion for Jadon Sancho.

The 24-year-old is facing an uncertain future at Old Trafford following a fallout with manager Erik ten Hag last season, which led to a loan move to Borussia Dortmund in January.

Sancho impressed for Dortmund, chipping in with three goals and three assists in 21 games to help the German club finish fifth in the Bundesliga and reach the Champions League final.

BVB are believed to be interested in re-signing Sancho this summer, but as things stand, the winger is set to return to Old Trafford where he has failed to reach the heights expected since joining for around £75m in 2021.

Sancho has contributed with just 12 goals and six assists in 82 appearances for Man United, and with Ten Hag now set to stay in charge and extend his contract, it seems increasingly unlikely that the winger will remain a Red Devils player for the 2024-25 season.

Man United offer Sancho to Premier League trio

Recent reports have suggested that Serie A side Juventus have emerged as the favourites to sign Sancho this summer.

A potential move to La Liga giants Barcelona has also been mooted for the Englishman, who would allegedly be willing to push through a transfer to Camp Nou.

According to TEAMtalk, Man United’s new technical director Jason Wilcox – who was Man City’s Under-18s coach when Sancho was at the club – believes the winger should be given another chance to prove himself at Old Trafford.

However, the report adds that the Red Devils have signalled their intent to move Sancho on this summer now that Ten Hag will remain as manager.

Man United are said to be so desperate to part ways with Sancho that minority shareholder Sir Jim Ratcliffe has ‘invited’ Premier League trio Man City, Arsenal and Chelsea to make a move for the winger.

All three clubs, along with Barcelona, are said to have been contacted by the Red Devils, with Ratcliffe – who has full control of football operations at Old Trafford – lowering Sancho’s asking price to £40m.

Is a return to Man City for Sancho realistic?

Born in South London, Sancho began his youth career with Watford before moving to Man City, aged 14, and spending two years in their academy.

Sancho starred in City’s Elite Development Squad, playing alongside the likes of Phil Foden and Real Madrid’s Brahim Diaz, and was considered as one of the Citizens’ brightest prospects.

However, Sancho’s omission from Pep Guardiola‘s senior squad for a pre-season tour in 2017 ultimately led to his decision to join Borussia Dortmund, where he gained first-team football and enjoyed a hugely successful four-year stay before joining Man United.

Whether Man City would be interested in re-signing Sancho remains to be seen; the winger’s attitude was allegedly a factor behind his exit in 2017 and it has since been questioned during his time at Man United.

Guardiola is thought to be on the lookout for a new wide forward this summer, amid uncertainty over the futures of both Bernardo Silva and Jack Grealish, but a sensational swoop for Sancho seems unlikely at present.
