Liverpool transfer news: Reds target ‘keen’ on Paris Saint-Germain move

Feyenoord defender Lutsharel Geertruida is reportedly open to joining Paris Saint-Germain amid interest from Liverpool.

SURE ODDS BANNER

Liverpool transfer target Lutsharel Geertruida is reportedly interested in joining Paris Saint-Germain this summer.

The Feyenoord defender is attracting plenty of interest after enjoying a successful 2023-24 campaign with the Dutch giants.

Geertruida made 47 appearances in all competitions, contributing to Feyenoord’s attacking efforts with nine goals and five assists.

The right-back also wore the captain’s armband for April’s 1-0 win over NEC Nijmegen in the KNVB Beker final, helping the club win the trophy for the first time in six years.

Despite being a key man in the Feyenoord squad, Geertruida faces an uncertain future due to his current contract situation.

Geertruida open to PSG move

With his deal set to expire in June 2025, Feyenoord may view the summer transfer window as one final chance to command a respectable fee for the versatile defender.

Arne Slot, who has left Feyenoord to become the new Liverpool boss, is believed to be interested in reuniting with Geertruida at Anfield, although a recent report suggested that he was having second thoughts due to his concern about being criticised for bringing players with him from the Eredivisie.

Slot’s reported stance has offered encouragement to Premier League rivals Tottenham Hotspur, who have identified Geertruida as a potential target.

However, according to Foot Mercato, the Dutchman is open to the prospect of completing a move to Ligue 1 champions PSG.

The French giants have already presented Geertruida with a contract proposal as they look to strengthen their defence this summer.

When will Geertruida decide his future?

There is still plenty of hope for Liverpool and Tottenham, with PSG yet to make an official contact with Feyenoord over a potential transfer.

Geertruida, who has also been linked with Bayern Munich and RB Leipzig, will not make any decisions over his future until he has finished representing his country at Euro 2024.

The Feyenoord man was an unused substitute for Netherlands’s win over Poland, before he came off the bench in the latter stages of Friday’s goalless draw with France.

Geertruida will hope to get more minutes under his belt when Ronald Koeman‘s side wrap up the group stage in Tuesday’s meeting with Austria.
